Economists warn Trump's research cuts could have dire consequences for GDP President Trump has proposed slashing federal scientific funding. Economists say the long-term consequences could be dire.

Federal R&D has shown to provide a return on investment that eventually leads to economic growth. Yet, the PBR proposes steep cuts. AAAS CEO Sudip Parikh told @NPR.org these proposals "will slash science at every university and laboratory in the U.S."

Indigenous land defenders face rising threats amid global push for critical minerals The past decade has seen β€œa consistent, sustained pattern" of violence against Indigenous people who oppose corporate human rights abuses.

Mining, including the extraction of transition minerals, leads every sector in attacks on environmental & human rights defenders. 40% of those killed were Indigenous, a reflection of the fact that more than half of all critical minerals lie in or near Indigenous land. grist.org/indigenous/i...

It's easier to cut funding from people you don't know... let our public + gvt feel more of our science research lived experiences by joining the #MClintockLetters effort in local media. She'd like that, I know, remembering her as my beloved mentor in grad work at @cshlaboratory.bsky.social.

β€œIntellectual diversity” is such a funny way to frame it. It’s just DEI for white, cis, straight, middle-class+, able-bodied, neurotypical men (and some women). It’s about making sure these people can succeed regardless of how intelligent or qualified. Not a new thought, but also not merit-based.
