The drama between Trump and Musk begs the question:
Why can’t billionaires be happy?
Because money isn’t everything.
They crave power. Attention. Adoration.
An introvert craves none of that stuff.
Introverts simply take satisfaction in a job well done.
To not want any power is true power.
Introvert overthinking after the party:
“Did I say something weird? Was I too quiet?”
Yes you did. Yes you were.
Who cares?
No one. Everyone else has moved on. Why not you?
The day you stop caring what other people think is the day you become a superstar. 😉🤟
Small talk is an introvert’s kryptonite. Ask me about the weather and I’ll stare at you like you just asked me to square dance.

Sometimes people will say you’re “too quiet.” But if you take a closer look, you’ll see they’re fine with it if you’re quiet and compliant. It’s when you stick to your convictions that causes them to object. Stay strong. #QuietStrength

Group projects are why introverts believe in parallel universes. I’m here, but my soul’s already checked out to one with less talking.

9 times out of 10, self-awareness is the first step towards solving a problem.
But if I’m at a bar and it dawns on me that I’m feeling socially awkward, that’s my cue to haul ass outta there. Otherwise it just spirals downhill from there.
“I’ll save y’all the spectacle. I’m going home.” 🤣
So true…
31.12.2024 22:46 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0It sucks that other people expect us to behave like them. Their minds are so full of who they want us to be, they don’t see who we really are…
…and then they announce there’s gonna be a team building activity at the staff meeting.
People who fail spectacularly are far more interesting than those who play it safe. 😉🤟

Key takeaway: Dreams are just that—dreams—if you don’t treat them with the same time and energy you give at the day job.
If you can invest so much in someone else’s business, why not invest in you?
…and it’s the “so full of life” person who usually gets the promotion. Loudness is rewarded in the extroverted workplace. This isn’t sour grapes on our part—just an honest observation that the work of talented introverts is often overlooked 🤷🏻♂️

My parents are deaf. My dad stopped going to family events because of DTS. He was made out to be the villain. His response to that?
“Someday, you’ll understand.”
Someday arrived and we got an ASL interpreter. 😉
Well said. I’m deaf and an introvert. I’ve upset people when I say that it’s easier to be deaf. When you advocate for accessibility, most people don’t dispute it. When you advocate for an introvert, even your closest friends and family will bombard you with “but, but, but…” 😉
27.12.2024 17:20 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0The War of Art. It never ceases to amaze me how I keep getting in my own way. This book is a great antidote for that 🤟
27.12.2024 16:26 — 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0This book was put together as an afterthought. It’s a transcript of my Madness in the Mainstream presentation. Turns out I might’ve underestimated its value. Deaf education is on shaky ground (again). Share this with anyone who needs a healthy dose of deaf awareness.

Not only did I do this, but I also think I created a new genre. But I’m retiring from my job in 2026 and if I publish this manuscript now, I’m absolutely getting fired.
So I’m waiting this out for a year or so.
Having a moral compass sucks. 😏🤟
I spent 23 years being a fake hearing person until I finally accepted (and embraced) my deaf identity.
But until I read ‘The Satisfied Introvert’, I didn’t know I had also spent five decades being a fake extrovert.
Awesome book. Check it out. 🤟

Those writers are far classier than I am (I’m the author of ‘People Suck’). But if I may recommend a sixth book… that would be Benjamin Plumb’s ‘The Satisfied Introvert.’
Plumb’s book—which includes a survival skill he calls his winning recipe—gave me an epiphany like no other. Check it out 🤟
…and it’s not the first time this happened. Robert Irvine doesn’t look anything like me, but he copied my crappy wardrobe enough to earn a double take 😜

A lot of talk about libraries going around so I might as well chip in.
As the only deaf kid in my school, there were plenty of times when I wanted to hide.
I did. In the library. It was the ultimate safe space. Books kept me company when no one else would.
It’s what made me who I am today. 🤟
