If Apple announces motion controllers support for the Vision Pro next week (per rumors), which existing VR titles do you think they'll demo on Stage?

My best is on WMG and Gravity Sketch, I feel like they fit Apple's brand and they already have an ios version.

Glad to know they are doing ai at its own event

What do mean? I thought it was the whole point besides 6dof and real life scale.

Samsung's first live demo of Project Moohan was lacking and so cringe, it was mostly a showcase for Google's mediocre ai Gemini instead of Android XR.

I mean who the hell looks at thier photos and gets the urge to write a sloppy poem? Who is this use case for?

And why are they clapping lol

Looks like the XR industry has officially crowned this sleek, minimalist design as the aesthetic for high-end Mixed Reality headsets. Guess this is what "premium" looks like now and in the near future!

Pretty good movie, I enjoyed it a lot.

I agree it gives Bodies Bodies Bodies vibes, I can also recommend Sissy 2022 and the Blackening 2022 for similar vibes.

You may soon (by 2026?) be able to send files between your iOS devices and your Meta Quest using AirDrop, as well as use the Quest as an AirPlay device, if Apple implements these European Commission proposals under the Digital Markets Act (DMA).

At least Google supports motion controllers on day one, and Samsung is making a 1st party controller for thier own headset.

So Lynx + Android XR + Hypervision optical stack = a small form factor standalone headset with H180ยฐxV120ยฐ FOV?

If this happens, I might actually give Android XR a chance.

(Btw When will VR companies move beyond the ~100ยฐ range? They're getting too complacent with FOV)

16.12.2024 13:54 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 1    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

We fully agree on this, they shouldn't be included in the box with Vision headsets but they should definitely be made by Apple and properly maintained and promoted by them just like the Apple Pencil. (Like how many ipadOS features are enhanced by the use of an Apple pencil)

08.12.2024 21:09 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 1    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

I don't think so, Apple themselves are sitting on a mountain of controller patents including tracked controllers.

08.12.2024 20:52 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 1    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

This argument doesn't hold true for the Apple pencil, it's clear that ipadOS is a touch first OS, making the Apple pencil and promoting heavily didn't change that.

Likewise I think they can do the same for VisionOS and controllers, the important thing is to not ship them in the box.

08.12.2024 20:50 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

So true, who's gonna develop full on vr experiences for an even smaller percentage of an already small userbase?

But at least this displays some good faith and bodes well for the cheaper Vision headsets when ever they arrive.

Apple pencil is kinda the exception to the rule, and it benefits from being a first party accessory that's heavily pushed by Apple as a must have item.

I want vr controllers to stay optional but offered as a first party accessory from Apple, otherwise it may not stick.

08.12.2024 19:26 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 1    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Proper VR controler support and an ecosystem of apps that takes advantage of them was the only thing keeping from Apple's Vision headsets, let's hope this changes that.

08.12.2024 15:19 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 1    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

With that said, a first party accessory would've been better and would've sent a stronger message about thier intent.

Let's see if a 3rd party solution can make an impact with both devs and users.

08.12.2024 15:18 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

It was so obvious for people who've been using VR for years that Apple would change thier mind about "clumsy VR controllers" ....but I don't think anyone predicted that it would happen so soon.

This is a great thing and probably a sign that Apple is really listening to users.

I think the reports of underwhelming psvr2 sales have greatly been exaggerated :)

But either way the psvr2 got a lot of steam recently because of the sales and the PC compatibility so I remain hopeful for a psvr3.

05.12.2024 13:21 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 1    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Thid is very good! Next thing they should add is some mixed reality support, even with its black and white passthrough, it would be very beneficial to add MR to the psvr2 and would ensure there would a back catalogue of MR games for the psvr3 at launch (assuming it will be designed with MR in mind)

I agree, this app is doing for 3D artists what Procreate did for 2D artists...and I think Reza is the only dev behind it? That's pretty impressive.

Lol as if you have any other option in VR ๐Ÿ˜‚.

VR gaming is mostly maintained by indie devs. (And that's a good thing in my book)

01.12.2024 18:43 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 4    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

May I suggest a little indie game called Lorn's Lurn? Pretty cool atmospheric game where you explore a mysterious and massive megastructure.

it's a flat game but still feels immersive (and honestly kinda looks like it was meant for VR, fortunately the dev said they might make a VR spinoff)
