Both really enjoyable and the Deanston is going to win more than it loses but I love my peat so the Kilchoman just edges it. Despite being NAS, the Kilchoman does not taste like it's much younger compared to the Deanston.

Been a while since I had either of these. Kilchoman obvious peat on the nose, LL less so and that always counted against it for me. It comes to life on the palate. At 57.7%, it has NO nip. Both have a lovely creamy mouth feel.

Easy enough call. The Jameson is growing on me but the Redbreast wins across nose, palate, finish. Unsurprising.

For folks wondering how I decide which whiskies appear in my face-offs, I don't! I have a randomised selector (aka "The Gods of Random Whiskey") which chooses the whiskies for me. I just honour those choices.

A tall bottle for sure...

Both very similar on the nose. Approachable. Honeyed notes, juicy fruit. The PJL was a bit spiky on the palate. The Green Spot more rounded. That gave it to the GS for me.

I found myself really enjoying the Ledaig towards the end - the off note I was getting seems to have vanished over time for me.

I don't think I'd replace it though. Other whiskies to be experienced right now.

Another face-off that was all about red fruit. I thought the smoke would have just edged the Ledaig for me, but honestly couldn’t choose between them.

Took a fair amount of water to tampen it down to a level I enjoyed. Smokey and very sweet. Future bodes well for the distillery if they can keep this up.
