You’re not increasing access when the development office picks a chunk of each class (i.e. Jared K, RFK,jr) and enrollment stays flat.
Admissions staff say they could pick several full sets without lowering standards.
$52B throws enough income to open more seats and keep small class sizes.

What’s the point of that gargantuan endowment, otherwise?
The fact they have all that money and admit so few kids is sick. Scott Galloway’s right: spread all that vaunted Ivy wonderfulness to more kids instead of operating the Ancient Eight as privilege protectors.

Cover of Andy Weir novel β€œProject Hail Mary.”

God, I love this book.
I am not a sci-fi reader, but this story had me shouting aloud and reading passages to my wife.
Buy it. Read it.
Much love to Andy Weir.

Five times Facebook’s fact-checkers got it wrong Here are some of the missteps which led to the end of prevention measures against fake news

We have asked The Telegraph for correction of several errors here.
Facebook makes ALL decisions to reduce traffic, deplatform, etc.
BMJ published an oversold "investigation" featuring a "researcher" who turned out to be a documents clerk. BMJ quietly revised.
Etc

Tulsa Massacre Was a β€˜Coordinated, Military-Style Attack,’ Federal Report Says The Justice Department’s conclusion follows an investigation of the 1921 atrocity in Oklahoma in which up to 300 Black residents were killed.

Tulsa should be taught so that Americans understand the danger of impunity and tyranny of a majority.

Anyhoo, he kicks it off with a very bad misunderstanding of the 1st Amendment and the whole "fire in a crowded theater" thing. cc: @kenwhite.bsky.social @jkosseff.bsky.social

Not only is this wrong, it's meaningless. He runs a private platform and isn't Congress. Does he not have ANY 1A lawyers?

An open letter to Mark Zuckerberg from the world’s fact-checkers, nine years later - Poynter From person-to-person coaching and intensive hands-on seminars to interactive online courses and media reporting, Poynter helps journalists sharpen skills and elevate storytelling throughout their car...

So...does that $900,000 wrist watch tell you when it's time to man up and apologize for slandering folks you have been bragging about for years?

Fact-Checking and Our Business A message from Steve Hayes.

Dispatch Editor Steve Hayes: "To be candid, I didn’t pay careful attention to the work [other fact checkers] were doing"
Also Hayes: Zuckerberg called fact checkers politically biased "...and I’d say he’s right."
That's some lazy-ass copy pasta, Steve.

These Athletes of the World Fangs O’Fury League are pretending to observe ancient canid rituals, but are instead gobbling addictive morsels dropped by cleverly camouflaged Canadian smuggler drones.
It’s the dark underbelly of the League’s wholesome public image.

Not once has Meta complained to us about political bias in our work. Not formally. Not informally.
Unlike almost any other newsrooms in the U.S., IFCN-certified fact checkers are audited for political neutrality, transparency, accountability.
β€œCommunity Notes” won’t meet any of those standards.

The vast majority of the errors in the fact checking program were Facebook's own: to label fast-spreading falsehoods, Meta used poorly-engineered bots instead of humans. Cheap, but they falsely tagged a ton of content. Not our monkeys, not our circus.

We told people RFK was lying and that COVID vaccines were not killing people.
The earth is not flat.
Vaccines don't cause autism.
Obama is an American.
Trump never told People Magazine that if he ever ran, he'd run as a Republican because those are the dumbest voters.

Zuckerberg, in my opinion, defamed hundreds of good journalists in his announcement that he has cancelled Meta's fact checking program.
