I don’t think the flaps were the issue at all. And anyone who states things with certainty that isn’t backed by clear evidence is to be ignored. Let the investigation run and we’ll learn what happened.

The ones that say the least and to wait are usually the ones with experience. But a Kiwi 787 pilot gave some good info. Remember that BA pilot that got blamed for that crash that then turned out to be a rare and hard to repeat fuel issue.

It would be unlikely that slats are deployed and flaps are not and they ignored the master caution and checklist fail warnings on takeoff.

I don’t think we can definitively see or not if the rat is deployed. Would be 1-2 pixels max. But that is an unmistakable RAT sound from the 787 as it goes past. Let’s just wait and see doesn’t matter who is right here, only that we find out what actually happened.

I’ve been reading what actual 787 drivers are saying based on the clearer video. Speculation after a crash is often wrong. I could be wrong (always assume I am). That’s what the investigation is for.

In a 787? I don’t think so. And gear up doesn’t mean the gear goes up immediately. If a brake hasn’t sopped a wheel it will be delayed. And if both engines fail it’s going to stop.

Actually sounds like the RAT is out and no thrust and can definitely see the slats.

Watch the original video. That copy going around doesn't have the sound from the crash aircraft. The RAT is definitely deployed and there is no engine thrust sound over the top of the RAT. But yes, all speculation based on limited info. Be interesting to see the result of the investigation.

You get a very loud warning if you don't have the flaps configured. And if there is loss of power, then gear will stay down - but no unusual for gear to stay down to wait for a wheel to spin down.
