Don’t get me wrong, we have pretty good healthcare overall. It’s just that they always opt for the most stupid and inefficient way to try and fix things, while the real solutions are already well-known and would have broad support. That’s not just related to healthcare.

Ugh, I hate politics in Germany so much. Now they’re discussing bringing back the doctor’s visit fee again. Because that worked so well last time. So much for “cutting bureaucracy.” Just plain stupid. 🤬

If you always wanted to do porn but without possibly negative consequences, now might be the best time. The web is gonna be flooded with even more and better deepfakes soon, and most people can already no longer distinguish between what’s real and what’s not.

I’m curious how easily this could be circumvented, though. Or how that will play out when former friends try to fuck each other over. People on social media won’t really care much about checking watermarks or metadata for all the bullshit they come across.

From what I’ve seen so far, deepfaking yourself (and your friends) is gonna be really easy with the new Sora app. It learns your likeness from a short recording that’s also meant to serve as proof that you’re actually the person being deepfaked.

So, does government shutdown also mean we don’t have to watch Trump’s shitshow for a while?

I don’t think LLMs really know how to optimize themselves. I’ve asked GPT-5 to rewrite and refine prompts for itself several times, but the results were always worse and further from what I intended. Has anyone else had the same experience?

So Trump’s big plan is basically that Hamas should surrender, which they didn’t agree to so far, or otherwise the war will continue. Did I get this right? 🤔

I’ve retreated to Designated Survivor on Netflix as my comfort show these days. There’s something oddly soothing about watching a competent and uncorrupted US president, even if it’s all fiction.

The problem is not ABC or Disney. The problem is the corrupt government, the hijacking of all democratic institutions, and the undermining of all checks and balances. The entire system is failing in plain sight.

So the new iPhones have this N1 chip with Bluetooth 6, but the new AirPods Pro 3 are still on Bluetooth 5.3. Why would Apple launch both at the same time and not match them up? Am I missing something?

I'm creating a Meta ad for a client, and apparently now it automatically offers to use AI images it creates for your ads based on what you wrote.

As a marketer, I personally felt that showing people images of three-armed babies whose hands are melting together might not be the best idea.

Charlie Kirk being gunned down reminds me a lot of when anti-vaxxers died of COVID a couple of years ago. You don’t really wish it on anyone, but the irony kind of speaks for itself.

Spent a little time going through old pull requests on JSON Feed, merging in links for the website. There is still a lot to catch up on. Time flies! And I didn’t realize that the lack of communication on my part was holding folks up from fully embracing it.

Let‘s wait and see, I guess. But given their track record so far, I wouldn‘t bet against Apple‘s silicon team.

The iPhone 17 comes with Apple’s new in-house networking chip Apple’s lineup of custom silicon continues to grow.

Even with my usual after-event rants, the technical achievements Apple showed off are still impressive. Custom 5G chip, new in-house chip for all wireless networking, and somehow they managed to shrink the whole thing to basically fit inside an oversized camera bump. www.theverge.com/news/774941/...

Absolutely. I think it‘s because every time it works, it kinda raises the expectations all over again, even though I should already know better from past experiences.

For what it‘s worth, ChatGPT helped me articulate my frustration. I often use it to refine my grammar and writing 😅

Really don‘t know where this is coming from. In almost every interview with Altman I‘ve seen, he literally says it‘s still a relatively stupid tool.

I really don’t wanna be that guy who refuses new tech, but every time I try ChatGPT or any LLM, I get frustrated and aggressive. It’s the same stupidly confident ignorance I can’t stand in people. Honestly, using it feels like arguing with a politician.

How they feel more comfortable publishing their thoughts and research on a competitor’s platform, which is known for manipulating algorithms to his own advantage, is completely beyond me, though.

Your periodic reminder that mRNA vaccines are a scientific and public health game-changer. Those that have been approved have passed stringent efficacy and safety checks. They protect you and your child against potentially fatal diseases. You may, however, get a sore arm.

Put together, it’s essentially a consent theater trick designed to maximize opt-in without real informed choice.

The big fat accept button is the easy path. The opt-out is less visible, which discourages users from rejecting.

The toggle is on by default, so unless you actively notice and turn it off, you’ve “agreed.”

Labeling it as a simple “Updates to Consumer Terms and Policies” shifts attention away from the fact that it’s actually a data-usage change.
