Despite the Supreme Court’s decision to uphold a Tennessee law banning gender-affirming care for transgender youth, LGBTQ+ rights attorneys say that there are still openings — some left by the court ruling itself — to fight gender-affirming care bans and other anti-trans laws.

The 2024 LGBTQI+ Community Survey from @americanprogress.bsky.social revealed many forms of discrimination and barriers to equity for LGBTQI+ folks. Perhaps among the most concerning? Abortion bans are making it harder for LGBTQI+ people find medical providers for ANY form of care.

It took us over a year to get this thing out through a peer review process because actual review takes time. Actual, non-bribed, non compromised review goes through iterations, and anything that went through "peer review" in a suspiciously short time is suspect.

Anywho, the Cass Review is busted.

Incredibly privileged to have been able to contribute to this. As scientists we should not accept the Cass review, nor the associated reviews, as scientific.

Some of the most concerning parts of the report have to do with mental health, including the proposal to treat gender dysphoria with “exploratory therapy” — which experts are calling out as a rebanding of conversion therapy — and false claims that mental health assessments play little or no role in current gender-affirming care. Rolling Stone spoke with a range of experts to learn about what gender-affirming care actually involves, and why “exploratory therapy” could be harmful for transgender kids.
