Humans in Africa’s wet tropical forests 150 thousand years ago - Nature The identification of tools dated to the time of Homo sapiens associated with microfloral evidence of wet tropical forests indicates that West African forests were occupied by humans much earlier...

In @nature.com we show that humans lived in rainforests ~150,000 years ago – over double the previous oldest estimate. Their presence in West Africa’s rainforests demonstrates the spread of early humans and places ecological diversity at the heart of our species.

The Marquess and Marchioness of Antrim (1722) by Francis Wheatley (1747-1801)

The painting shows their country estate, Glenarm Park, in Co. Antrim. An English artist, Wheatley painted some of his finest works in Ireland. I love how elegant everything is in the work.

If you’re in the market for a bitta Shakespeare, I cannot recommend King Lear at the Gate Theatre enough. A vigorous, thoroughly absorbing production with Conleth Hill. Felt very lucky to get to see it last night. @gate-theatre.bsky.social

The first measles death in the US in a decade -- the tragic, preventable death of a child whose parents chose not to protect them with vaccination -- should spark an immediate nation-wide campaign to ensure all children are protected against preventable diseases. Anything less is unconscionable.
