Leaders from the University, our partner Medtronic, and the University of Minnesota discussed the strong MedTech cultures in both Galway and Minnesota, and how a collaborative MedTech culture—characterised by strong partnerships—is fuelling the next frontier of MedTech innovation.

We were delighted to welcome Minnesota Governor @governorwalz.mn.gov to campus yesterday, along with representatives from the University of Minnesota, Mayo Clinic, and the wider region, for an event celebrating Minnesota’s Leadership and Innovation in Life Sciences.

This project is funded by Ealaín na Gaeltachta, Údarás na Gaeltachta and An Chomhairle Ealaíon, in association with the Centre for Irish Studies at University of Galway.

Renowned sean-nós singer Orla Ní Fhinneadha has been appointed '25-'26 Sean-Nós Singer-in-Residence at University of Galway’s Centre for Irish Studies. Orla, from Baile na hAbhann, Co Galway, has many singing titles to her name, including coming third in the Corn Uí Riada at the Oireachtas in 2016.

It will offer state-of-the-art facilities for teaching & research, including tutorial & seminar rooms, study spaces, research labs and offices. As part of our sustainability goals, the design includes plant systems & solar PV panels to enhance energy efficiency & reduce environmental impact.

The new facility is to be built on our south campus, a short distance from the Quadrangle. The design runs over four storeys, covering approx 3,925sq metres, and is integrated, via a glazed atrium link, with the existing Block E, a protected structure of historical & architectural significance.

We are delighted to welcome planning approval for the development of a new School of Medicine Building. The new facility will complement the ongoing expansion of courses in our College of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences

Our former president, Alexander Anderson, has been recognised with a prestigious commemoration for his groundbreaking invention in electrical measurement, more than 130 years on from the discovery.
