Trying something a bit different today for masking. Normally I don't do anything and just do some clean up after. I don't like using painter's tape because of the hard ledge it leaves, but maybe paper tape will work better this time. What do you think?

Also way back in the day in 2014, I did a few Underground Sea alters as a set. The theme was times of day, so we had noon, sunrise/sunset, and midnight. I particularly enjoy the midnight one.

Kind of a quiet day today, listening to various music. I'm usually a heavy metal listener, but I have learned about KPop Demon Hunters recently. I'm having some hard nostalgia from it that reminds me of the early 2000s. Anyone else?

On Friday, I held a live painting session in my Discord server and started working on a themed #alteredart set of Tron lands. The theme was suggested in VC while I was painting. Comment on what you think it might be! Hint: it's esoteric.

Sometimes it's hard to know what to look for to find inspiration. Should you look inward or outward, to others or to nature? I often default to nature in a lot of cases, as the beauty it offers is so mesmerizing. To see the subtle sheen of iridescence in flower petals is one of my favorite things.

“How do you go from transparent brush strokes to flat, opaque color?”

This clip attempts to show how I slowly build up that color and eliminate brush strokes. Shorter strokes targeting less opaque areas is key.

Sometimes the smallest amount of paint can have the biggest impact. This Madcap Skills was a fun experiment back in the day, and I still love the way it looks. The juggled fire sticks remind me of fall festivals and warm company.

Another throwback, this time an #alteredart of Jace the Mind Sculptor. The commissioner asked for his deck to be seasonally themed, and Jace got to be the snowy version of himself. I like the effect this gave.

Finished up this #alteredart Brainstorm from #MagicTheGathering on Friday, and I love it! Di'Terlizzi is one of my favorite old school #MTG artists, and I think this art is a great example of the beauty of old Magic.

#MagicTheGathering has some of the most beautiful art of any #tcg, and I especially love the older art. This Pact of Negation is no exception, and was a fun #alteredart to work on!

The #GrandArchiveTCG Silvershine #alteredart drip is real. I really liked making this card, the effect reminds me of water dripping off weeping willow branches and a bit of magic.

This is a very special #MagicTheGathering #FinalFantasyIX #alteredart that might become a future collab! This is a laser-etched steel Vivi that I painted over (yes, I forgot to grab a pic of it after signing) as an experiment. Watch for more updates!

Achieving an ultra smooth alter is all about working thin and slowly building up color and contrast. Never trying to get there in a single pass.
