I think sorcery is best approached as a board game now that they've made more precons. Early community was gatekeep-y, the company releases new product yearly and isn't great at managing organized play from what I hear (partly due to the rules being a little vibes-based). looks cool for sure

the criticism def isn't unfounded, I was trying to teach FaB at a local con and a number of people told me they knew how to play magic when I asked if they wanted a demo. I do really like the roster we have, bunch of artists I'd never heard of

I assume they didn't like people scraping the data for analytics. Not saying it's fablazing or that what they provide is wrong/hurtful, but when wotc stopped posting every mtgo decklist it was partly because of analytic tools serving the stats, rather than people independently looking through data

doesn't help that FaB isn't really trying to capture a different audience with its art. If you're looking for something more old-school fantasy might I suggest sorcery?

lowkey I feel like a lot of people don't want to go back to being "fringe". MTG is huge, literally everywhere to the point people assume things are MTG, and while FAB is legitimately a better game they don't want to try something new(er) and potentially unpopular, esp if it isn't tied to a big IP
