2: I often felt in SD that chapter design was... random. A lot of things felt like they had no substance. In contrast, book 1 felt a lot more intentional and I'm kinda annoyed I can't explain it better than that. I also really like the mechanic of everyone getting the same xp rate
To elaborate on why it is better than SD:
1. Charm. Look, the DSFE artstyle is horrendous. The dialogue is bland and the gameplay is slow. I didn't feel any of that (granted, I have a speed up button) for book 1. S/O to the TL team for a great localisation
I finished book 1 a few days ago and am a good ways into book 2. Anyway book 1 is much better than Shadow Dragon (The bar is in hell)
