reading my hq fics again and wow my love for noya is so obnoxiously blatant i am so pleased

i am never writing anything more than 5k words long ever again -_- this keeps happening the moment i hit 10k i immediately hit a brick wall and everything else is like pulling teeth

not sure if some people understand that part of what makes creating so rewarding is the fact that it *is* hard. It doesn’t matter if you’re been painting or writing for 80 years— every piece will have problems that need solving, and few things feel better than figuring it out.

A SPEECH AT THE LOST-AND-FOUND I lost a few goddesses while moving south to north, and also some gods while moving east to west. I let several stars go out for good, they can't be traced. An island or two sank on me, they're lost at sea. I'm not even sure exactly where I left my claws, who's got my fur coat, who's living in my shell. My siblings died the day I left for dry land and only one small bone recalls that anniversary in me. I've shed my skin, squandered vertebrae and legs, taken leave of my senses time and again. I've long since closed my third eye to all that, washed my fins of it and shrugged my branches. Gone, lost, scattered to the four winds. It still surprises me how little now remains, one first person sing., temporarily declined in human form, just now making such a fuss about a blue umbrella left yesterday on a bus.

anyway we are sitting at 10k words rn give or take and as you can tell 1) it has spiraled out of my control 2) characterisation is driving me up the wall

i literally scrapped a full 1000 words for this scene that i have FINALLY wrangled into behaving somewhat

fighting the urge to rewrite the whole fic again because im rly not a fan of what I have rn ahhhhhhh

i realise that 90% of my writing struggles come from the arbitrary format limits i give myself but i still keep doing it

the problem with this fic is that it keeps derailing into an out of character love letter every single paragraph
