There are other families from Hamama who are also fishmongers, such as the Shubeir family, the Miqdad family, the Abu Awda family, the Abu Sultan family, the Zeidan family, the Abu Riyala family, and the Kaskin family.

We, the Shubeir family, are from the Palestinian town of Hamama, 25 kilometres North of #Gaza, now completely erased by Israel after the #Nakba. And we are famous for selling and fishing.

Also, my aunt's husband, Youssef, from the Miqdad family, lived in southern Gaza, specifically in the city of Rafah. He was a well-known fishmonger. The Miqdad family of Rafah were generally known for their fishmongering.

My grandfather was a very kind and well-known man in the Gaza seaport named Atiya Ibrahim Shubeir. In 1961, he was a skilled fisherman who would catch fish and then sell them in the morning in the famous markets of the Gaza Strip, such as the Firas Market, the Zawiya Market, and the Old City Market.
