04.06.2025 02:05 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I hadn't been since I was a teen as well. Can confirm it was just as fun as an adult π₯° #KidLitChat

04.06.2025 01:42 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0That's so fun! I went to a small local ren faire in SoCal π #KidLitChat
04.06.2025 01:41 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I will just post about my favorite thing so far this quarter which was attending a ren faire for book idea research (and of course, merriment). I'll likely be going back in the fall for more. π΄ββ οΈπ°π #KidLitChat

Interesting! I vividly remember reading The Da Vinci Code on the bus to school and being exhausted as well. I always thought maybe I read it too young/reading level was too high, but perhaps it was the pacing too #KidLitChat
14.05.2025 01:38 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I just want to add my appreciation for the topic introduction. It made me giggle π #KidLitChat
14.05.2025 01:31 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I want to share a bit laterally to this topic: if you get feedback on word count (too short/long), it may be a deeper insight. You can technically have a wordless picture book that is paced wonderfully. Hence, a note on word count to me warrants a look at the pace of your story. #kidlitchat
14.05.2025 01:24 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Congrats!! What a great accomplishment βΊοΈ
13.05.2025 01:10 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I would put in a vote for lowercase, because saying "I googled something" also stays lowercase as a verb
08.05.2025 02:04 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0This is relevant to last nightβs #KidLitChat discussion on querying!
07.05.2025 19:43 β π 8 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0How amazing!! Congrats! β€οΈ #KidLitChat
07.05.2025 01:49 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0@junesmalls.bsky.social I love this and what a great metaphor. π₯ͺπ The sandwich rejection concept is also a great reminder for anyone out on sub (speaking for a friend aka me π) #KidLitChat
07.05.2025 01:46 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0My last big tip is to be kind to yourself (and to think kindly of the agents). A rejection may not be a reflection on the quality of your work. It doesn't make it hurt less, but you can celebrate what you can control. If you send a query, THAT is a win. You are doing the thing! #KidLitChat
07.05.2025 01:31 β π 13 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0As far as submission strategy when querying, I recommend sending in small batches. That way you can make adjustments if you get form responses vs. personalized etc. querytracker.net can even filter a search by reply % and days (Under Agents -> Data View, select "Submission Data") #KidLitChat
07.05.2025 01:24 β π 9 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Writing a great query is a separate skill from writing a great book, so my best tip is to study successful queries. www.query101.blog/about is a great resource (and includes the query that landed my first agent). There's also queryshark.blogspot.com by the late, great agent Janet Reid. #KidLitChat
