Small life update: Iβm at the centre of a multimillion dollar lawsuit in Alberta launched by a failed candidate for Jason Kenneyβs UCP
It may be the longest and most expensive media trial in Canadian history
Iβm ready to go public about it and I want to share more details with you π§΅
Keeping up with the UCP government's democratic transgressions can be difficult.
But not impossible.
Hereβs a running list since Danielle Smith became premier. π§΅π
Universities across the world seeing this:
"its only wrong 45% of the time!!
Lets buy free licenses for our students, staff and faculty!!
Lets lock into contracts with rapacious predatory AI companies with shitty technofascist politics, sucking up water and jacking up electricity prices!!"
Well I guess it becomes a 2 step process to deal with that stupid law.
"We're removing lanes to enable more pedestrian access and vegetation"
1 year later: "we're adding bike lanes"
The GoA seeks mediation w teachers but takes imp issues off the table & insists on an overall $cap based on its financial position. 3 responses.
1 GoA sets the budget & made unreasonable oil $$ assumptions
3 No PST
2 GoA seems to have no difficulty settling law suits w Australian coal cos

How about you just put your money towards reducing class sizes and paying teachers fairly instead of making plans to undermine them??

I know I've said this before, but it bears repeating: we have to be able to criticize Mark Carney without living in fear that doing so will help Poilievre or weaken Canada. He is our Prime Minister. Out of anyone, he deserves to be watched and critiqued. We should all be dying on this hill.

5 in-a-row is also the 3rd longest streak for any point of the year. July 2022 & 2021 both went 7 days, and June 1961 went 6.

Lol. Exactly why no politician or closely affiliated individual should be allowed anywhere near elections and ridings boundary decisions.
13.08.2025 19:18 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Is there a chance they attack the definition of "residing" instead of the definition of person? I could see them making an argument that "illegals" are not resident in the state but rather are occupiers or invaders - I don't know if there's any grounds for it though.

04.08.2025 16:17 β π 5 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I wouldn't tell anyone else how to think or feel, but I will just say that, for me, the only way to stay sane after the 2024 election has been to pretty much abandon hope. The US is cooked. Everything I value about it is doomed. We're heading into a long period of dissolution & chaos.

25.07.2025 17:33 β π 42 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Interesting study from Germany on e-bikes and the modes they replace:
"43.1% of electric bicycle trips and 63.2% of electric bicycle mileage would have been undertaken using a car if no e-bike had been available, highlighting their substantial potential to reduce transport-related CO2 emissions"
4. Bikes should have priority. No unneeded stop signs for cyclists since cars are the threat on the roads.
5. Bike detectors that keep cyclists flowing would improve the experience.
6. Proactive enforcement to ensure that cars parked in the bike lane are removed quickly would help.
We have some thoughts:
1. Bike lanes aren't protected if cars have to pass through them to park.
2. Bike lanes are useless in the winter if they are not cleared quickly, and kept clear.
3. Transition points should be cargo bike friendly: no huge bumps, no tight turns.
Jaysus. 2025 currently ranks as the FOURTH worst year for Wildfire Burn Area in Canada, but it's mid-July.
It will most likely end up as the SECOND worst season in the CIFFC's record.
Thank you

Corporate leaders are obsessing over GDP per capita.
But, if you look at just about any number that would meaningfully tell you how well our economy is doing, Canada does better than the U.S.
