As first step to #RejoinEU advocating for restoring 4 Freedoms of Movement after Brexit in UK/EU/EEA/Switzerland (people, goods, services, capital), required for Single Market/EU. #SaveFOM. Think Tank. Campaign. #FBPE.

The difficulty he is having at the moment as that most organisations seem to their role only as advocating for their members or industry.
And they see it as overstepping the mark to call for something bigger.
So the challenge is to encourage them to keep doing what theyโre doing but alsoโฆ.
@andrewhesselden.bsky.social is trying to bring together other industries too to make the case for wider Freedom of Movement of people and FOM of goods, services and capital.
19.08.2025 15:31 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 1 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Yes thatโs essentially right. We promote the importance and value of the four Freedoms of Movement.
Thanks for pointing this out we have amended bio slightly to mention Single Market.
At the moment, musicians and artists are making the most noise about this. Other industries are less organised.

If you are a dual citizen after Brexit then this is a privilege that can create real advantage for you and your children.
So long as the government doesnโt restore mutual Freedom of Movement of people for British people.
This is why parents of dual citizen children would see big advantages in opposing the restoration of mutual Freedom of Movement.
17.08.2025 14:04 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 2 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Why the government does not prioritise restoring mobility for British people.
This is why they focus on immigration instead
The government finds it more politically expedient to dogwhistle over immigration than to worry about your own mobility because so many of you have rights already.
Ultimately some British people can live without Freedom of Movement on their UK passport.
Because they donโt need it.
Itโs not the EUโs fault, is it?
As for votersโ priorities, itโs a false dichotomy to suggest that only one groupโs priorities can be worked on in a parliament. Even if focusing on single issues is what wins power under the current system.
Taking away the freedom of movement of some British people has created advantage for others.
In an economy where people are struggling to feed and look after themselves, if you can deny some people privileges that others have or can buy, you can usually be sure to win a few votes.
Why do people say Iโve blocked them when it is they who are blocking me?

I work on two campaigns:
1. @savefom.bsky.social which advocates for a return to the single market.
2. @180daysinspain.bsky.social which asks for rights of part year residents to equal that of full year residents and ALSO for more liberal visa waivers for all Brits to equal w Spanish get.

There needs to be more acknowledgement of the millions of us who opposed it all along. We have been treated as non-persons by UK & EU govts for the last 9 yrs, written out of the script. Over 16 mill ppl robbed of rights & identity agst our will.

Itโs a public secret that Brexit has been a disaster. I donโt think we need to dwell on that fact.
1. Bashing Brits for Brexit is the fastest way to make sure they never want back in the EU.
(Although we already know that a majority of them already went back in!)
Perhaps Iโm **exactly** the kind of person who could work with the EU and friends in the UK to repair the damage Brexit has caused.
Imagine what could happen if we worked together.
It would be better than creating petty minded UKParl petitions to reduce the rights of Europeans in the UK, Mark.
