Software developer. Most comfortable with Go, can do frontend too. I built jungletv.live, underlx.com, tny.im and more. I know more about the internals of GTA V and Watch Dogs than their average players. Sometimes I make music and high effort shitposts.

An X-ray scan of the 386 chip. It shows a square with a grid of 132 pins. In the middle is a square, the silicon die. Blue wires connect the pins to the chip. Spikes stick out all around the perimeter of the package.

Intel's 386 processor was popular in late 1980s microcomputers. From the outside, the 386 chip is a boring ceramic square. But I obtained a 3-dimensional CT X-ray scan from Lumafield, revealing six layers of complex wiring hidden inside the ceramic package. Let's take a closer look... 1/N

I also found out that some of those infamous rips are apparently almost lost media, at least when it comes to finding legitimate/high quality sources (I blame myself for indulging so much in obscure soundcloud stuff a decade ago. And now I'm doing the same with Bandcamp but at least I can buy those)

I've been meaning to do this for years now, I even started doing it but lost motivation shortly after starting. Mainly, I couldn't get to an agreement with myself about how I should/shouldn't change ID3 tags of media coming from different sources.

Have you ever noticed how in Cyberpunk 2077, every single song in the score is in the exact same key?

What the fuck is that about? The only thing I can think of is that I guess itโ€™d be easy to transition from one song to another, but FOR THE ENTIRE GAME???

My haul this #BandcampFriday
Links to each album/track in the alt text, if nothing messes them up.
By the way, if I were to spend this much every other month, it'd still be cheaper than a Spotify subscription - and I get to choose who actually gets the money.

Ahh, HBD beloved Ethereum ๐ŸŽ‰ whose smart contracts and token standard (ERC-20) were arguably great enablers of the birth of the "modern cryptobro" that mostly treats digital assets as dumb stocks/get-rich-quick-schemes rather than (programmable) currency. ๐Ÿ˜‘

Franz Sales Lochbihler's painting of Achilles dragging the body of Hector behind his chariot. Both men are stylized in the nude, though Achilles is draped in a tastefully placed salmon-colored cloth and wears a grand be-feathered helmet. Hector's body slides along the ground behind the chariot, his arms hanging above his head.

The decision to use ChromeOS is because of its security model (we could discuss this for hours; maybe if Apple had locked down Mac like they did iOS, other decisions would have been made). I wonder how opinions on this matter will change as ChromeOS is going to become just an Android flavor.

"upgraded," you mean.

At work we almost exclusively use ChromeOS, even devs (which tbf also have Debian cloud workstations). I definitely don't love it, but I'm more and more often just happy it isn't Windows 11, at least. Now if only instead of Chrome it were "FirefoxOS" and still supported uBO...

Developers who make an effort to write meaningful patch notes **and companies that let those patch notes get all the way to the end user** must be protected at all costs.

I'm considering a Framework 12 too, partly to replace my very aged Surface Pro 3, where I occasionally doodle while brainstorming. But since I'm not in a hurry, I think I'll wait for motherboard options with more recent CPUs. Keen to hear more about the pen support from people who can't draw :P

Well before this decade, a friend introduced me to the use of the โœจ emoji as a tone indicator for pleasing "automagical" stuff (of the "it just works" kind). Oh, how I long for those times of innocent visioning... especially when all the โœจ stuff these days rarely "just works".

Apparently some slop squatters noticed LLMs hallucinating Unity C# package names into JS projects and set up payloads on NPM which gets noticed and flagged as a security threat by NPM maintainers.

LLM powered vulnerability scanner comes along and reads a Unity C# project and says ๐ŸšจCritical Vuln๐Ÿšจ

Crypto the technology, works without the intervention of any government. But like with anything in life, governments can make certain uses of it illegal. It was already like this with physical money... Just because you can transact with it, it doesn't mean it's always legal.

It's quite sad that, as I'm sure you're aware, many communities (including all those related to discussing R* stuff, it seems) never seemed to really move out of there; many seem to have tried Bluesky but didn't end up committing to it for long enough for any sort of "network effect" to happen.

I was never much of a Twitter user, but every now and then I'd jump from post to post to see what was being discussed around some recent topic. I ceased doing that: even setting aside all the political & ethical reasons, the unwanted content and "features" constantly being pushed became unbearable.

The funny thing that I've only realized as I made that joke is that Microsoft is now in the business of making both Windows and anti-cheats for Windows (Ricochet, via Activision). Surely that means Ricochet will never ever cause stability or security issues... right? ๐Ÿคช

๐Ÿ’กTIP: Harmonize the situation by being part of both groups! This will stabilize things by landing you squarely in the despicable camp and will additionally maximize your enemy and headache count. This is the one trick that the Activision acquirer and Windows maker doesn't want you to know!

This meme means very different things to Linux users and to cheat makers. One group is despicable and the other is commendable; even those within each group surprisingly disagree on which is which.
