I also found out that some of those infamous rips are apparently almost lost media, at least when it comes to finding legitimate/high quality sources (I blame myself for indulging so much in obscure soundcloud stuff a decade ago. And now I'm doing the same with Bandcamp but at least I can buy those)

I've been meaning to do this for years now, I even started doing it but lost motivation shortly after starting. Mainly, I couldn't get to an agreement with myself about how I should/shouldn't change ID3 tags of media coming from different sources.

The decision to use ChromeOS is because of its security model (we could discuss this for hours; maybe if Apple had locked down Mac like they did iOS, other decisions would have been made). I wonder how opinions on this matter will change as ChromeOS is going to become just an Android flavor.

At work we almost exclusively use ChromeOS, even devs (which tbf also have Debian cloud workstations). I definitely don't love it, but I'm more and more often just happy it isn't Windows 11, at least. Now if only instead of Chrome it were "FirefoxOS" and still supported uBO...

Well before this decade, a friend introduced me to the use of the ✨ emoji as a tone indicator for pleasing "automagical" stuff (of the "it just works" kind). Oh, how I long for those times of innocent visioning... especially when all the ✨ stuff these days rarely "just works".

Apparently some slop squatters noticed LLMs hallucinating Unity C# package names into JS projects and set up payloads on NPM which gets noticed and flagged as a security threat by NPM maintainers.

As to why we're regulating it... Well, for the same reasons most governments regulate money and so many other things 🙃

Crypto the technology, works without the intervention of any government. But like with anything in life, governments can make certain uses of it illegal. It was already like this with physical money... Just because you can transact with it, it doesn't mean it's always legal.

Good thing that's a very modular hobby, I'm sure those nice keycaps will find their way to some other keyboard even if you give up on trying to make that one work.

I was never much of a Twitter user, but every now and then I'd jump from post to post to see what was being discussed around some recent topic. I ceased doing that: even setting aside all the political & ethical reasons, the unwanted content and "features" constantly being pushed became unbearable.

The funny thing that I've only realized as I made that joke is that Microsoft is now in the business of making both Windows and anti-cheats for Windows (Ricochet, via Activision). Surely that means Ricochet will never ever cause stability or security issues... right? 🤪

💡TIP: Harmonize the situation by being part of both groups! This will stabilize things by landing you squarely in the despicable camp and will additionally maximize your enemy and headache count. This is the one trick that the Activision acquirer and Windows maker doesn't want you to know!

This meme means very different things to Linux users and to cheat makers. One group is despicable and the other is commendable; even those within each group surprisingly disagree on which is which.

i think more feeds need to have a basic system that filters out posts you have definitely seen before. its a chore to scroll down all the posts you have seen before just to get to the unseen ones
