When you have a friend who has invented the most appealing swatch technique you’ve ever seen, of course you copy it and name the technique after him. I present… The Ernesto Swatch Style. #fountainpen #fpn

When I joined the Melbourne Pen Show committee, I had no idea how much work it would be. Even though the show had run for 24 years there was little data, scant logs and we realised we had a huge job on our hands. It’s 25 days to go! Here’s some promo shots of the journal class I’m running. #fpn

Thank you! It’s taken a lot of work.

I’ve been having no luck with photo uploads and BlueSky lately. So I’ve been absent for a few days as nothing would post. Here’s a glimpse at my “finished” ink box that started out as a $4 dirty white thrift find. #fountainpen #fpn

I found a dirty white crate at the op shop about 5 months ago and finally had some time over the past few weeks to slowly up cycle it into ink storage. I’m still working on refining its design, but enjoy the progress pics. #fountainpen #fpn

Some Melbourne Pen Show news. I’ve organised great prizes for our charity raffle with our exhibitors and I’ve collaborated with a pen maker to create a fountain pen for the door prize. The picture below shows the first five layers on the pen body. It’s off being turned into a pen now. #fountainpen

Found this white crate at the thrift shop months ago. It was dirty but had charm. I removed all the metal bits and what not and started with black paint. No idea if it’s going to stay flat black, or if I’ll add more colour. I have plans to line the inside with fabric. New ink storage perhaps?

I’m going back to part time next year to really focus on my art.

I don’t think so. I feel very un-creative this year.

When I’m bored I mix my own #fountainpen ink colours. I really like this fox orange shimmer, it was meant to be cherry, but this is a nice combo. In my collection it’s unique and the shimmer shows up in an EF nib which is great. These Wancai pens are exceptional for handling shimmer in an EF nib.

He was a dual Mauritian Australian citizen. He gave up his Mauritian passport. He is not Maltese.

He was the UAP candidate in that electorate since 2018 before side stepping to senator. If he’s built his reputation there and was on ballots there, and his office is there and he is well known to the Lib/Nats who clearly believed in him to proportion votes to him, It’s his electorate.

Yes, that’s my argument. Contextualising his core supporters; who are in that electorate.

I didn’t forget it, I just keep getting banned for saying it.

Menzies and Deakin electorate largely handed the win to Babet in 2022, which is where he’s been since 2010 and well known. Yes, other electorates had votes going to him through proportional voting, but largely it’s that region of Vic.

Gosh no. He’s not free of consequences, but it sure feels that way. He was censured but that amounts to a slap on the wrist. He’s yet to be actually hit with legal consequences and jail time.

13.09.2025 10:02 — 👍 2    🔁 0    💬 1    📌 0

Ahh yes *slaps forehead* I didn’t know that. And it’s parties in electorates that you vote for and those parties preference different senators and oh my god… have I been saying this all along and you just figured it out?

The senate seat is in an electorate. It’s not floating in space.

It’s pretty obvious what I mean by that when the context of every thing I’ve said is read. If you want to pick at one comment without reading it in context, that’s entirely your choice.

We follow the UN rules on freedom of information, opinion and expression, under the covenant of Civil and Political Rights. His censure states “inflammatory use of hate speech” www.aph.gov.au/~/media/435A... and transcript www.aph.gov.au/Parliamentar... enough votes passed for censure.

That’s true. No one can directly claim they vote for Babet, votes flow proportionally to him vis party preferences in the electorate. Enough people voted for parties that preferences Babet. That speaks to my original point, he reflects a minority of Australians with his attitude.

13.09.2025 08:16 — 👍 1    🔁 0    💬 1    📌 0

Of course there is an electorate as preferences from that electorate flow to him. I’ve said repeatedly it is proportionality voting, through state preferences. The people do not directly elect him, it’s through the party system we vote for. My word choices are not arbitrary.

13.09.2025 08:13 — 👍 0    🔁 0    💬 0    📌 0

From a legal perspective it’s not. He has been censured by Federal parliament, but he’s not said anything that breaches hate speech laws. In exactly the same way as Jacinta Price hasn’t. He belongs to a dissolved party and he has no one to condemn his words from a moral standpoint.

13.09.2025 08:11 — 👍 2    🔁 0    💬 1    📌 0

No, if you can’t argue your point I’m not going to do your thinking for you.

13.09.2025 08:06 — 👍 0    🔁 0    💬 1    📌 0

No dude. It’s odd you don’t understand the word proportionality and how senators are voted in. No one here has actually told me I’m wrong with evidence. Because once they realised what proportionality is, they understand that I was not incorrect.

If you want to take a generality personally, that’s entirely up to you and speaks more to your ego than my words.

13.09.2025 08:01 — 👍 0    🔁 0    💬 1    📌 0

No, you can’t. I never said you could. Senators gets elected by proportion. I’ve said the word proportion repeatedly. Proportionality is how senators are elected. If you vote for idiot parties you get idiot senators who are running in that district because idiot parties preference them.

Yes, voted in by proportionality. Which goes to what my original point is, he very well reflects the views of the people in that area.
