⚒️ A very Eeyore or Marvin-ish thing for a rock to say.

“I used to be a mountain. But would the water cycle leave me alone? It would not. Typical.“

Well, tbh, we did have an election in 2024, and the country voted in the Tangerine Tyrant. So... Oh, wait, he wasn't president until late January 2025. Huh!

Article II, Section 4 reads in full: "The President, Vice President and all civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors."

Carol for Another Christmas - Wikipedia

For anyone who loves (or can't stand) Dickens "A Christmas Carol", I recommend taking time to watch this version. It was made to promote the United Nations, broadcast in 1964, and then lost for half a century. Written by Rod Serling. Remarkably relevant for our times.

I prefer "P, as in phone." Also "A as in aye, B as in bee, C as in cede, E as in eye," and so on. I'm still missing a few letters from my devil's alphabet. D, F, I, L, M, N, R, T, U, V, X, and Z. Rather pleased with Gee, Heir, Jay, Kay, Owe, Queue, Seas, and You, though.

The President Who Never Grew Up Instead of focusing on governing, Trump spends his days chasing entertainment, attention and renovation projects that reflect a presidency stuck in adolescence.

J-MART: ".. he’s turned the office into an adult fantasy camp .. brazen corruption, near-daily vulgarity and handing out pardons like lollipops ..

".. the country has never seen such an indulgent head of state."

Key: One "could watch his positions take shape from one rally to the next—an offhand comment that got a strong reaction would become a talking point at the next rally, and then a core part of his pitch. And he took notice when the crowd got bored, pivoting to the lines that would fire them back up."

Ironically the "ruling stems from a series of machinations that Mr. Trump undertook earlier ... based in part on the decision by another federal judge, Aileen M. Cannon, to dismiss an indictment against Mr. Trump over concerns about the appointment of Jack Smith as special counsel in that case."

Opinion | Trump Has Put the Military in an Impossible Situation

Sort of.
For “manifestly unlawful” orders, the legal duty is to disobey is to refuse to obey. Where things are less clear is for lower down the command chain and less obviously illegal orders.
Excellent explainer in this piece by David French (former JAG).

The earlier comparisons of Trump to Hitler were frequently and perhaps appropriately considered to be alarmist and hyperbolic. Current comparisons to Neville Chamberlain are in my opinion overly optimistic. This, however, is chillingly spot on. bsky.app/profile/marc...

Had Trump been US president in 1940, he would have sided with Hitler.

Think about that.

This is how dangerous he is.

To all of us.

LLMs like ChatGPT should be thought of as tools. It's a bad idea to use a hammer to install a screw, but hammers *are* useful for driving nails. Also when using a LLM, check the work before submitting it. To extend the tool metaphor, measure twice, cut once.

Thomas Massie to CNN on the Epstein files: "This vote is gonna be on your record for longer than Trump is gonna be president. And what are you gonna do in 2028 and 2030 when you're in a debate … and they say, 'How can we trust you? You covered up for a pedophile back in 2025.'"

LISA McCLAIN: Voter turnout from Republicans was not high. But I think part of that reason is because Republicans for the most part are happy with what's happening

TAPPER: Using that argument, your voters could be so happy that Democrats retake the House next year

THE WHITE HOUSE
WASHINGTON
November 9, 1968

Dear Messrs. Smothers:
I am very grateful for your kind and thoughtful letter.
To be genuinely funny at a time when the world is in crisis is a task that would tax the talents of a genius; to be consistently fair when standards of fair play are constantly questioned demands the wisdom of a saint.
It is part of the price of leadership of this great and free nation to be the target of clever satirists.
You have given the gift of laughter to our people.
May we never grow so somber or self-important that we fall to appreciate the humor in our lives.
If ever an Emmy is awarded for graciousness I will cast my vote for you.

Sincerely,
Lyndon B. Johnson

I much prefer this president’s method of dealing with criticism over the current belching-emperor thumb up, thumb down, “Off with their head if they displease me,” iron fist, thin skin, snowflake, wittle pouty baby dictator’s bullshit.

"Prosecutors almost never go in front of grand juries without obtaining indictments because they are in control of the information grand jurors hear and defendants are not allowed to have their lawyers in the room as evidence is presented."
