My first first author manuscript has posted! I’m very excited to share SWIF-TE with yall. It is a fast, memory efficient tool to identify novel TE insertions from short-read data. 🧬 #TEworldwide #transposons

I'm so excited to share my master's research! Do pollinators change their foraging behavior depending on floral and ambient temperatures? Do flowers that thermoregulate experience higher rates of pollinator visitation? Check it out below! 🏡️

AVITI library prep miniaturization and combining with Illumina data for phylogenomic and population genomic analyses Recent advancements in next generation sequencing approaches allow for expansion of evolutionary research into the discovery of genetic patterns and processes underlying diversification across scales....

Took longer than expected, just like everything these days, but the preprint for our project comparing AVITI with Illumina came online last night. Overall, the data are highly similar and combinable for downstream applications. www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1...

It's been so lovely to have Claire in the lab for the last few years, first as an undergraduate research assistant and then as a full-time research tech. I'll miss her tons but I'm so excited for her to start her PhD!!!

We've been lucky this summer to have Eleiezer Majambare in our lab as a Plant Genome REU student. Today he presented work with his mentor @derekdenney.bsky.social to look for selection on flowering time genes in Chamaecrista fasciculata!!

Sophie did a really lovely job bringing together trait data, population genetics, and GWAS to try to understand how traits are lost.

I've had it with stories/anecdotes about how the research grant purges are often purging the "wrong" grants, usually going on to describe how that research could benefit people. /1

First, by calling any of it "mistakes," you've already surrendered the field by tacitly accepting the premise that there is some coherent concept of the "right" group of grants to illegally cancel to inflict ideological punishment on hated groups while dismantling US science. /2
