I spent hours sitting shotgun in her Mustang, listening to great music and having fascinating and meaningful conversations with her. She is a writer's dream and a writer's nightmare. Both because she is a very good writer herself and because she is a startling, complex person.

Uh. I don't think that Nuzzi piece is "ironic" guys

I have admittedly only seen the first two and last two PREDATOR movies, but BADLANDS is by far my favorite of those four. Incredible time at the movies. Just fantastic.

If anyone has experience with this and has advice, I’d appreciate it.

I spent a day talking about fictional worlds, how fiction works, and so on, and it didn’t matter. Multiple students cannot imagine that in this story a robot might be different, like metaphysically, than it would be IRL.

Or:
“So the robot isn’t treated like a person—“
“Robots aren’t people.”
“Right, in this world, in real life, I agree. We’re talking about this story.”
“But robots AREN’T people. They don’t have thoughts, or rights.”

“So, the robot feels____. How do we know this?”
“Robots can’t feel.”
“Right, in our world. But this story is in first person, and the narrator feels things.”
“But robots CANT feel. It’s impossible.”

Weird problem I’ve run into in the classroom that I haven’t encountered much before; I have students struggling with the concept of a fictional world that is partially different from our own.
