We just tried building 4 identical AP1000 units. 2 were completed at $30+ bln and the other 2 were cancelled after spending $9 bln with another $20 bln needed to complete them……I don’t have an answer to the problem.

You do realize that this plan is 100% unfunded and relies on Congress to appropriate the funds in the future. Just hoping the utilities take on the financial risk is not going to work.

It was....the Nuclear Reconnaissance started in 2000 and was a failure due to the cost of new builds.

The entire plan is unfunded and it will go nowhere. It hopes the utilities will dive head first into the financial abyss. Not going to happen.

When you say build a bunch of them? Who are you talking about building them? There are already COLs issued for new units that the utilities are not using because of the financial risk.

Highly unlikely with the cost of new nuclear being so high.
