it's just that the idea got linked nowadays to the popular users of it in media etc. the same way the art of using your drawing to hide your face in interviews/pictures is linked to mangakas even if they're far from the only one. it's just when you think stream with avatar you think of the big ones

hell even in 2010 some people were streaming/editing representing themself with non real images, it's a tell just as old as time, in history we can't count all the artists, compositors etc etc that just didn't reaveal themself. it's totally normal.
