Trump says RFK Jr. will investigate the discredited link between vaccines and autism: ‘Somebody has to find out’
Researchers attribute a rise in autism diagnoses to increased screening and changing definitions of the condition. Hundreds of studies have found childhood vaccines to be safe.
Scientists have already investigated this. The result? The doctor pushing this junk science had his license revoked for spreading deadly lies about vaccines.

Being a linguist is inherently political. We know that all language is equal and that being treated differently because of your languaging has to do with the body you inhabit and not the language itself.

People keep saying to ask ChatGPT or some other detection software. My experience with that is that it said the student's writing was written by ChatGPT but also that my own writing was. Not helpful, do not rely on it!

Also it includes quotes that are almost on-topic but aren't in the source and don't actually relate to the question.

My (limited) experience with detection bots is that they claim that even my own writing is theirs. I found that one not helpful.

The student also never attended class, so it was hard to pin misunderstandings of terminology and material on the bot, since the student probably had no understanding of the material either. In focusing on that one student I also wonder if others have used it better and I just didn't know.

I had one student who I suspect used ChatGPT for every assignment. They admitted to at least some use of it. Here were the clues for me: Reading responses said the readings discussed topics they did not. Citations were for non-existent sources.

All this is to say that students may not even know they have a qualifying disability. They may have dyslexia or a learning disability or even be deaf and not know it. Incorporating flexibility is crucial for these students!

But when I showed my audiogram to the accommodations director she said, "you can have whatever accommodation you want." Changed my life. But all those years of so many situations where I thought I had to make do. And I was successful. But so much more so once I started using interpreters.

I started losing my hearing at age 15. But I was in my 40s, in a PhD program, before someone told me I could get interpreters for my classes. I had no idea. I was sure I wouldn't qualify.

I'm old enough to remember when Nixon resigned, which sort of colored my view of politics and what was possible. But same, the political world right now is jaw-dropping.

We should talk more about how abnormal it is for a special counsel's office to be shuttered by a change in administrations. Hunter Biden's SC stayed in place as did others. Jack Smith has to discontinue Trump's cases while he's in office but he has other defendants. Trump breaks norms & it's ignored

The excerpt from William and the Werewolf showing singular they spelled with a Thorn
The first known use of singular “they” is so old that not only does it pre-date singular “you,” it wasn’t even spelled with a “th”
When William and the Werewolf, in 1375 CE, used singular “they,” it was spelled with a Thorn
