In lieu of a QR code, here's a link to our Kickstarter, launching Monday! www.kickstarter.com/projects/pan...

And here's our reveal trailer, too!

A black-and-white panel from the zine "Comic Relief". We see an anthropomorphic frog saying a lot of text.

The text reads: "Thank you for reading β€œComic Relief”!

This zine is inspired by the changes I’ve seen in the comics space over the course of the last couple of decades. It’s hard to believe just how much things have evolved over the years, and unfortunately how much of it has negatively impacted creators over time.

To that end, seeing how limited current tools are for making a comic website (and being a currently-unemployed software engineer), I knew that something needed to be done.

Myself and a few others have been working on a tool called Comix Cleric that helps artists to make the comic sites they’ve always dreamed ofβ€”all modernized, customizable, easy-to-use, and most importantly: FREE!

But unfortunately, we can’t do it without help. We’re currently running a Kickstarter campaign that will help us to get over the finish line, and we’d appreciate your support.

You can check it out using the QR code on the back cover, and following us on social media would go a long way.

See you around!

The text reads: "To make matters worse, AI has become a constant threat to artistic expression.

When your artwork can get stolen and fed into a soulless algorithm that can make images that are β€œgood enough”...

Two black-and-white panels from the zine "Comic Relief". On the left, a ringmaster is charming people in front of a circus tent, promising fame and fortune for their comics. On the right, the reality: They are treated like clowns meant to entertain and bring in revenue for the circus, and nothing more.

The text reads: "Newer comic-hosting platforms sprung up, with promises of ways to live off of your art.

Popular comics could get ad revenue, and superstars could get scouted to work directly for the company itself.

But these promises often became prisons of harsh working conditions with little pay.

And when one "superstar creator" was wrung dry, too burnt out to be useful anymore, they would find another one to take their place."

The text reads: "Over time, tools became more advanced, making it easier than ever to create and share comics with the world.

And when smartphones became commonplace, you never needed to wait to read your favorite stories.

But these changes came with costs.

With the advent of social media, "artwork" slowly became "content", and "content" became something meant solely to monetize."

It was just a place where you could put somethingβ€”anythingβ€”out into the world simply because you liked it.

And maybe someday, someone would see it and like it too."

I'd love for more complaints towards crunchy roll, who has been doing this to its subtitles too
I watched Wolf's Rain with friends, and the AI garbage that was used to make the subtitles made them horribly distracting and disrespectful with how wrong they were.

Thank you! We want to bring back the feeling of how webcomics USED to be on the early internet, of independent sites that each brought their own charm to their corner of the web.

RSS feeds, web rings, and more are planned for the future, building off of these early days of the Wild Web.
