Of course, there has been some progress since this clip.

Mostly behind-the-scenes stuff, reworking the final third and some lines of dialog to account for the comic's reboot.

But also I've been re-learning 3D modeling to make the environments for this!!

Grayscale sketch, but a lot of high contrast in her design. Her hair was also a bit messier.

V2, from the Chapter 1 cover. Very purple.

V3. A much darker palette for her, closer to the final colors.

V4. Slightly taller, the contrast returns, and her hair is back to black instead of violet. This is a sneak peak of her character render for Ch. 2.

Some of the designs have gone through big tweaks just between the initial sketches for this reboot and the final version.

Violet was in both Ch. 1 and Ch. 2's covers before her proper introduction, and she went through like 3 palettes in that time lmao

Originally, the plan was to just expand the intro to the series. Give some origins, fill out those initial events and then lead back into what came before.

Nah. At this point, I've got different plans. Why stick to continuity I made when I was fresh out of college? I can do so much more now.

It's really funny to me that, in 2023, I drew essentially 150 rough pages for the reboot of my webcomic.

Nearly two years later, the reboot has finally happened. And out of the 60 pages released so far... we've made it to page 14 of that initial draft, lmaooooo

The end result changed so much.

Kayla announces a quick update.

Kayla lays on the ground, dazed. The caption reads "I'm a bit too busy to do the usual 2 pages/week schedule for a bit. But I don't want the series to go on hiatus in the meantime, so..."

"For the next few weeks, it's just gonna be 1 page per week instead of 2. Patreon will get the next batch of 4 pages soon!" Melody presents this like a stage magician doing a trick. The Scareguy, one of her illusions, holds up a sign with a 1 on it. "ta-da" and "wow" appear next to it.

"Oh, and there's a new Smash Time Stories account on Bluesky. It's mainly gonna repost Smash Time Stories stuff from my main account." Violet gestures toward the new page.

Here's some quick doodles I threw together for Instagram about the temporary schedule change.

These posts are usually pretty fun to do, since I get to use a much looser style.

Over the next few weeks I'll start filling out this page with art, comics, and WIP clips from The Witch's Trial. I'll have to see if it's better to post stuff on this page, or just use it for linking to new updates and whatnot.

The comic will be updating weekly on Wednesdays for the next month!
