Seems to me that if you’re in the business of calculating’what resources are consumed’ and who pays you ought to consider it on a global scale and consider what we here owe to the global south and how we might calculate the things we need to give up to pay our debt.

I am obviously going to disagree with Leo on abortion as a discrete topic, but the importance of having a Pope demanding holistic pro-life beliefs instead of the hypocrisy that reveals it’s about controlling women cannot be understated.

One of my favourite German words to say aloud is Flurfunk. It describes gossip or rumours that spread through the workplace and means, literally, "hallway radio."

On a related note, a Finnish word for gossipers is kahvipöytäparlamentti. It means "coffee break parliament."

Absolutely.. government should be calmly articulating the benefits to the UK of legal immigration. Time to be bold and put some clear water between themselves and Reform on immigration rather than chasing them down far-right rabbit holes.

Having pondered it all morning, I'm still incredulous that all that Today programme coverage of migrant hotels at no point (unless I missed it) mentioned why people were here, what they might be fleeing from etc.

If you, like me, are the parent of a neuro-atypical child dreading this autism press conference, please remember: These are the people hurting our kids. Not us. They are the ones stigmatizing and pathologizing them. They are the ones peddling untested science. And we should be very, very angry.
