Measurement and Control of Crossed Potentials in a Flavoprotein Flavoproteins are versatile redox-active biomolecules enabling a multitude of metabolic processes. Their versatility stems from the tunability of the flavin cofactorβ€²s one- and two-electron reduction ...

New pre-print! Flavins are essential cofactors in biology, acting as both one- and two-electron redox cofactors, yet how the protein scaffold tunes redox chemistry has been difficult to discern. Here, we examine how the N5 environment controls flavin potentials. (1/n) www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1...

Impact of the second coordination sphere of the molybdopterin cofactor on the mechanism of formate dehydrogenase from Cupriavidus necator Molybdenum containing enzymes play a pivotal role in the global carbon and nitrogen cycles using a common molybdopterin cofactor. Mechanistic studies have revealed a great deal about molybdenum enzyme...

Happy to see our new paper on a new and exciting project that focuses on molybdenum enzymes! Also, Congrats to Matt on his first paper!

I have a very specific question: Do you know of a good, cool brewery, with food, in the north Chicago suburbs where a friend and I could head to from the airport and spend an afternoon until the in-town friend gets off work?

Sorry to hear, I know the feeling after having several EPR MRI turned down recently. The closed submission window is especially deflating. Then to add on its one less submission where cost sharing is waived. I know a lot of places (esp here) would not be able to submit without it

Between the proposed budget and Admin that seems to be the goal. The discussion of R1 vs R2 not having a big impact on campus would be tossed out the window

New UW teaching workloads included in state budget plan, along with pay raises and more The UW System braced for a state budget cut. Instead, it's poised to get more money than it has in recent years β€” but the cash comes with some strings.

www.jsonline.com/story/news/p...

"New teaching workloads would require instructors to teach at least 24 credits every school year. At UW-Madison and UW-Milwaukee, where professors are expected to produce more research, the mimimum load would be 12 credits per year."
