On the topic of novels started and stopped and re-started: I had tried to get into "Already Dead" by Denis Johnson multiple times since it came out in 1997. I went back one more time recently. Slogged through it, but first impressions were accurate.

Reminds me of how I used to submit fiction to The Twilight Zone magazine in the ‘80s (to no avail). Not sure how involved he was with it, but it was around for a number of years.
