Best friend lived in Miles Platting, not a problem and Tib st was where Afflecks was, practically lived there.

I worked and went out in the 80s and very early 90s in Manchester city centre, there were no 'no go zones'. Crime wasn't rife, but if you were gay, or not dresed like a townie you had to have your wits about you. Always idiots around and there still are.

Media City is in Salford, a neighbouring but different city. This has changed Salford completely in terms of housing, costs much less to live in Salford too. People who work in Media City live in leafy, green Manchester suburbs, rarely the city centre.

I've always thought of Sheffield as a doughnut, thriving suburbs around the outer ring, with nothing in the centre. Manchester had around 500 people living in the city in the early 90s, now it has just under 100k. But look at how the city has had to change to change to achieve that.

A recent fire was actually caused by someone leaving an empty wine bottle - the sun's magnifying rays off the bottle ignited a whole area #KeepBritainTidy

Great article, I for one support the developments, there are plenty of us around that don't want Sheffield held back for another 30 years due to a very small amount of greenbelt being redeveloped.

My husband's best friend from school is an owl and he is a blade. 50+ years of rivalry and still firm friends - thats Sheffielders for you.

Agree, don't go to City Hall anymore. Prefer to support smaller independent venues or travel to see bands elsewhere.

Interesting that its Oxford that dominates. Every PM who has attended university since 1937 attended Oxford University. Cambridge has not produced a single PM since Stanley Baldwin in 1935.

Graphic showing a quote.

Emily Fry, Senior Economist at the Resolution Foundation, said:
β€œBritain’s outlook for real disposable incomes is bleak, especially for poorer households after the benefit cuts announced at the Spring Statement. But the wider picture is more positive when the Β£18 billion boost to public services is included, as this will provide vital β€˜in-kind’ benefits, particularly for poorer households.
β€œLower-income families make greater use of services like schools, childcare and adult social care, and have seen the quality of those services decline over time.
β€œA focus on improving families’ experience of a range of downtrodden services in the Spending Review could help boost quality of life for lower income families in a challenging living standards environment.”

The budget and Spring Statement were tough for low-to-middle income households.

Getting rid of the internal market is a good thing. Lansley ruined the NHS when he set this up. Been nothing but a money pit of bureaucracy and duplication.

Watched Thunder/Lightning game yesterday. Been a while since I've seen such a poor performance from them. A few new players haven't quite got it what it takes at the moment. Lightning outplayed them.
