Oh.

"This is about whether we have functional constitutional government in this country. If the IRS can go after you because of what you think or what you believe or what you do, we'd no longer live in a free country.β€œ

Rep. Greg Steube says more guns is the solution to the FSU shooting: "For years and years, I sponsored legislation when I was in the state house and state senate to allow concealed carry on university campuses, and time and time again we have seen these lone gun shooters go after gun free zones."

MEMORANDUM AND ORDER ON PLAINTIFFS’ MOTIONS FOR CLASS CERTIFICATION AND PRELIMINARY INJUNCTION MURPHY, J. This case presents a simple question: before the United States forcibly sends someone to a country other than their country of origin, must that person be told where they are going and be given a chance to tell the United States that they might be killed if sent there? Defendants argue that the United States may send a deportable alien to a country not of their origin, not where an immigration judge has ordered, where they may be immediately tortured and killed, without providing that person any opportunity to tell the deporting authorities that they face grave danger or death because of such a deportation. All nine sitting justices of the Supreme Court of the United States, 1 the Assistant Solicitor General of the United States, 2 Congress, 3 common sense,4 basic decency, and this Court all disagree. Plaintiffs are seeking a limited and measured remedyβ€”one Defendants have conceded in other proceedings is the minimum that comports with due process. 5 Plaintiffs are simply asking to be told they are going to be deported to a new country before they are taken to such a country, and be given an opportunity to explain why such a deportation will likely result in their persecution, torture, and/or death. This small modicum of process is mandated by the Constitution of the United States, and for this reason, the motion for class certification is GRANTED, and the motion for preliminary injunction is GRANTED in part.

NEW: A federal judge in Massachusetts grants a preliminary injunction blocking the Trump administration from deporting people to third countries without telling them where they're going and allowing them to raise fears of persecution or torture.

The opening lays out the stakes.

And just as a reminder, the Obama-era IRS "scandal" the right was so enraged about here was the agency simply questioning whether explicitly partisan Tea Party organizations were eligible for a specific tax-exempt status that, by law, forbade the recipients from engaging in partisan politics.

The Declaration of Independence's warning for Trump "The king violated their rights time and time again, and he basically 'un-kinged' himself."

"The core of the document is saying the king is a tyrant. The argument of the Declaration is that the king was depriving the colonists of their rights. Some of those rights perhaps haven’t resonated w/Americans before now, like depriving them of trials or making them have trials far away from home."

Some of the students who survived the Parkland shooting are now at FSU, where they just faced another school shooting. These students should be looking forward to graduation, not reliving the same trauma.

It’s past time for our elected leaders to take real action on gun violence prevention.

More than 1,000 international students have had their visas or legal status revoked More than 1,000 international students at 128 colleges and universities have had their visas revoked or their legal status terminated since mid-March.

Over 1,000 international students had their legal status snatched by the Trump adminβ€”no warning, no hearing, no due process.

This ain’t immigration policy. It’s a power trip.

Opinion | Kilmar Abrego Garcia’s due process isn’t up for debate. JD Vance should know this. JD Vance has now joined the chorus of voices in Trump’s Cabinet eager to justify Abrego Garcia’s illegal deportation by throwing the principle of due process to authoritarian wolves.

For a man who tries to paint himself as an anti-intellectualist and who once praised President Richard Nixon for saying β€œprofessors are the enemy,” Vance is using a lot of Ivy League jargon as a smokescreen to attack a fundamental tenet of the American judicial system.
