Reposting this:
#Blender 's SimpleDeform modifier works along the Local Z+ axis. I couldn't find this fact in any of the documentation. So if you're trying to deform stuff and it looks weird, rotate the origin so that its Z+ is along the major axis, then choose the deform axis after.

WAAAAAITTTTTT, WAIT. HOLD EVERYTHING. what if like, ghost ship (a-la the black pearl) but, space. whats the space equivalent of tattered sails and barnacle ridden planks. OHHHHH, OHOOOOO nope, im getting ideas. im getting ideas.

i mean if i CAN find a way to make spaceships scary, ill do that. i just feel like, most of the time, its not the SHIP thats actually spooky, its whats on/in the ship, or what COULD be on the ship thats doing the spooking.

like, even with like HAL, i feel like its not the *ship* thats spooky.

its probably be something like this but, idk if i got the bandwitch for something like that 🫠 but, uhhhhhh. actually i forgot what i was gonna say.
