Weird to think this was 6 years ago- I was 15 back then... Time goes by so quickly. I still am happy this painting. It was based on a location in the forest I discovered on a walk.

I meant the opera, Otello.
Otello is one of the main characters of the opera, which is based off of Shakespeare's "Othello".

So glad Ricordi (the publisher) convinced Verdi to make this one despite him being already retired bc he truly cooked. The librettist too.

A bright, blue sky with some white clouds lights the mountain peak as the Sun lowers closer to the horizon and gives way to the summer evening, and the the green grass and warm stones start to fall into shade. The old mountain cross , firmly planted in the rocky ground, stands against the sky, and at its base two lovers kiss.

Location depicted based on Monte Forato (En: "holed mountain"), a mountain in Tuscany which I hiked up with Kelpy some years ago. There's a metal box containing a little notebook in which people can write stuff next to the cross, very cool stuff.
