Several wrecked Gaza schools, shown from the air, pulverised by Israel's forces: windows all gaping, bombed out and covered in ash and dust. Some people are trying to live in makeshift camps amid the destruction, in former quadrangles and bomb sites.

This what Israel has done to Gaza. Forbidden pics by a Washington Post photographer whose Jordanian air crew didn't pass on Israel's order to only photograph aid being dropped. City, suburbs, schools, people: bombed to rubble. People being starved in makeshift camps on road roundabouts. #Genocide

With the publication of these two reports, B'Tselem & Physicians for Human Rights Israel become the first two Israeli organizations to state it loud and clear, based on meticulous documentation and research: Israel is committing genocide against Palestinians in Gaza.

In the US, UK, NZ, and a bunch of other countries it seems like all the mainstream politicians are getting more and more distant from their electorates in their politics, but we hold our nose and vote or not and things get worse. This doesn’t seem healthy but there doesn’t seem to be a solution

It’s kinda weird that street food is usually some of the best, cheapest, and most convenient food in every single country, but every single government seems to hate it. I guess because it looks untidy? And probably they don’t pay as much tax as a restaurant

The shadow coding that is on by default is not what I want 80% of the time so is a major irritation. But writing prompts in the little boxes seems so hit and miss. I want a trad UI for AI powered tooling, or something like that

So, AI for coding users, how do you actually use the AI? I have found copilot occasionally useful, but the interfaces awful and end up not using it very much as a result. So I’ve never managed to get AI from the evaluation stage into part of my work flow

With eftpos as an established alternative to the big cards, this could easily be NZ, except that we don’t do innovation here, just rent seeking for big business

This! Lifting weights is like a miracle cure for so many body issues and it seems to be great for long term health too. You don’t need to go super hard, and it doesn’t take much time, give it a go!

I'm not saying this is wrong, but it is the kind of thing I think we should try out experimentally, rather than just theoretically

I have never been happier that somebody doesn’t like rust. Probably the biggest signal that we built a great technology and a great community. This image should be the front page of the rust website

I have a huge amount of respect for Julia - she seemed one of the best execs at Microsoft and the best senior manager I’ve ever interacted with. This seems massively wrong headed, so I hope there’s more to it than reported or the internal tools must be much better than the public ones

Howdy all. I'm unfortunately not going to be with my employer for much longer due to team relocation. If anyone has any info on roles that would allow me to continue my Rust compiler work (in New York City), they'd be greatly appreciated.

9 years ago the NBA pulled the All-Star Game out of North Carolina because of their anti-trans Bathroom Law. The choice had massive public support and was applauded

Less than a decade later and half the country has those laws, including Congress itself, and barely anyone blinks

LESS THAN A DECADE

Being at Mozilla a decade ago was eye opening in terms of what a superpower remote work can be for an org. RTO seems like a massive foot-shooting for the sake of short term stock price wins

Lead as in manage or lead as in tech lead? How burnt out on the feature am I? Will it expand and be interesting or is it adding a million edge cases? Where am I in my career and how do I want to grow? How tightly scoped is the team? Will there be peer teams and leaders to work with and learn from?

Anyway, as usual in war it is the civilians (both Iranian and Israeli) who suffer and the politicians get rich. Both countries are ruled by absolute dickheads, so hoping both regimes collapse and peace comes quickly (neither seems likely, unfortunately)
