Long retired. Write flash fiction, play the recorder. Hoping to survive long enough to see proportional representation, a second referendum and a socialist utopia.

Some good people still. But I like shouting at the others.

I don't come on here very often. Strangely I prefer Twitter. Adrenaline addiction, perhaps?

Not to mention the armies of Rohan and all the associated elves, dwarves, and hobbits.

Is the money going into GPs' pockets or into practice funding? I suspect the latter.

So true. My daughter has my parents' dining table and family meals still happen around it.

Maybe this professor brings in lots of funding...

As Pushkin said to Nicholas I in a poem: 'You stand above the people. But eternally above you stands the law.' I hope US courts have the courage to stand firm.

'Softer line on UK' is just another indicator of how Brexit has weakened us.

Depose him! First from the RSPCA, then from the monarchy. Let's get rid of that absurd mediaeval institution.

I didn't get polio as a child. I was lucky. My daughter didn't. She was vaccinated.

At this time of year I always think of the Moomins who woke up one winter to find all the other creatures running around trying to placate a ravenous beast called Christmas.

Advice to Kemi: butter waterproofs bread, so that even cucumber sandwiches don't have to be soggy.

I read too fast. Sadly an audio book slows me down so I hear every stylistic imperfection.

I might give it to Gaza. Except it's such a pathetically small amount.

If as he claims Trump won the 2020 election, is he eligible for a third term?

And I'm very disturbed by accounts of DNR imposed on disabled people without their consent. Is this even legal?

I'm torn on this one. I see the problem. But I want the right to die, for me. Except that my worst fear is losing my mind, which would rule me out from assisted suicide.

Overheard on bus: 'Just the place for roadworks!' Is this the reason for potholes? They're in a place inconvenient for traffic?

Wow. Imagine the shock for the Daily Mail when it finds out Tory plans were for fines of Β£5k - later reduced to Β£3k - for each missed heat pump sale. What Ed Miliband has done is to reduce that to Β£500. As @torstenbell.bsky.social says today Headline should read β€œMiliband slashes Tory boiler tax”

I can't see any reason except administrative convenience for setting the bar so low. As
HMRC has no difficulty working out my tax liability from both state and occupational pension, why can't they pay me the WFP and adjust my tax code to claw it back? Then it could reach everyone who needs it.

Sad that the Budget will create some losers. Labour should be brave and tackle the ultra rich, who could lose millions and hardly notice.
