I've been reading some spooky books to see if any are worth adding to our high school library's collection. THIS is the one. Actually creepy, scary, AND plenty of gore. We Kept Her in the Cellar by W.R. Gorman. 📚

I'm trying something different this year: A book subscription box! Each month will have a different theme, and up to 10 kids can sign up each month. Students will get two books from the theme, a bookmark, a button, and some other swag. We're kicking off the school year with Manga and Graphic Novels!

I attended a birthday party with my daughter today, but my thoughts were also with folks attending other events. I hope everyone was/is staying safe and spending time in good company!

We've been doing a lot of the Unlock games with our 9 year old son lately, and he asked about trying a real escape room. We found one about an hour away that's tailored to kids. It was our first one and we all had a blast! We can't wait to try another one.

I'd heard of the Jujutsu Kaisen manga series last year, but it didn't sound appealing, nor do I really love manga. However, I've now fallen in love with it and am kicking myself for not picking it up sooner! 🩵📚#booksky

I was using my phone to fill out a survey for our new super on GenAI. When I got to the end, there was a short answer section for the question "What concerns do you have about student use of GenAI?" I had to ditch my phone and move to the laptop for that one.

Pretty short story. I started reading middle grade and YA books as part of a book award committee. Helped me learn about lots of different kinds of people, and I imagined them all as potential students that could enter my classroom.

They'll put a different label on it or use different wording and bury it at the bottom of a much larger budget/proposal and hope nobody notices.

The world might be a better place if more adults read more children’s books. Children’s books teach lessons about empathy, kindness, how not to let greed and power take over. I think there are a lot of adults who might benefit from being read a bedtime story or two…

I have DEFINITELY benefited from my many years in the classroom. Even though I went from elementary to high school, it's still relevant.

That sounds like a pretty terrible system. I got my teaching degree then moved into the library, so I guess I'm thankful for that.

How do you get hired in a library without the degree? (Sorry, newbie question probably)
