Reform voters in liking white people and disliking non white people shocker.

(with all other things being equal - all six are terrible)

If this is how France responds to European wins, then it needs a few years outside of European football.

Harsh punishment, but we're not talking isolated incidents, and people died.

Let's see whether UEFA want to prevent a short term drop in French TV money more than they want to prevent deaths.

Washington: 250 million honeybees escape overturned truck in US Master bee-keepers are called to the scene after a truck containing 70,000 pounds of active honey bee hives flipped over.

Wrong Washington. Good thinking though lads.

This is why I detest people quoting things said by the likes of Trump or Musk from X or "Truth" "Social" deadpan.

Sometimes there are things from those places worth quoting, this being an example. But those who amplify the far right's messaging verbatim, are as bad as the most bigoted of them.

If people were determined to stir up racial hatred with disinformation, I would argue the UK would be better able to track down and shut down such people when the demographics proved not to match their lying fascist narrative.

Now, such people are at large, waiting for an opportunity.

Cannot praise Merseyside emergency services highly enough for how they've managed the past few days, but I fear the genie was let out of the bottle by rushing with the suspects' demographics.

Should have stuck three more zeros on the sum to be honest - it would make the process of renationalisation easier by making the state the overwhelming creditor. We are headed in that direction whether there is political will for it or not so may as well do it efficiently.

Is it the state's fault that some defeated MPs are well known for being provocative? Or unreasonable? Or sly? Or idiotic? Or divisive?

I don't attribute every single one of those things to Baker (most, not all). But many known ex-MPs do well after defeat, by not being seen as any of those things.

Common sense would be to argue for UBI, not argue for pensions to work like UBI in a non-UBI system. But feel free to just penis wave and insist that yours is the only possible common sense.

Introducing a new subset of tax policy that only targets those over 68 on over ยฃXk per year, to avoid setting a threshold for a benefit, would be administrative overkill.

The principles of UBI only work if it is indeed universal, as then the entire system is structured around a known constant.

If the story is the whole truth, then I'm with you.

However, if the Torygraph said Trump was a bad man, my first instinct would be to check a respectable news source to see if he had actually done something tolerable for a change.

There is a minimum standard of living that all pensioners must get, and many are below it. But your solution would give the wealthy the same cash increase as those who don't have enough.

Paid for by an ever-shrinking workforce - one shrinking at the absolute insistence of said wealth hoarders.

Maybe we should replace Yuki Tsunodi with Helmut Marko for the weekend and just see what happens?

They're not exactly hard pressed people on the breadline. But the way they were treated does show just how much companies can get away with before going bust, and just how little recourse people have when a business decides to take the money and run.

Benefit levels are another issue, but ultimately if there are people who "shouldn't be getting them", you've got to put the hard yards in. Identify precisely what help will actually remove an individual's blockers and be 100% sure they are fully removed.

At that point, you can set a higher bar.

Those most insistent that many young people won't work are violently opposed to solving the problem. They just hypocritically want an unearned cash bonus.

Young people are unemployed? Okay, identify what form of support, training, education, treatment, etc would help them. And GIVE IT TO THEM FAST.

Party breakdowns very telling here.

Labour's handling of WFP was a terrible response to a legitimate issue. Money that should be spent on supporting working-age people through their barriers to work, so that we can sustain increased pensions, was being given to retirees who needed no support.

I don't think that's necessary for the legislature (I think it is for the executive; that's not a double standard). But I think if you have a diagnosed, life-threatening health issue, you shouldn't be running.

The cultural question internal to the Dems is why this happened in so many instances.

23.05.2025 07:56 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 1    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

The problem isn't that the Democrats are dead, it's that several of them knew they were highly unlikely to survive their term at the point of running. There's a time and place for that debate but that debate needs having.

As to your direct question, most people expect Senators to do their jobs.

It would be helpful if the Democrats could put up a lower proportion of candidates with terminal cancer or who are many years above life expectancy. This shouldn't have reached the senate.

Translation - Labour have lost upwards of 3 in 10 of their voters, and a majority of Green and LDs no longer see a Labour majority as a lesser of evils.

There will be a lagging effect in seeing whether the full scale of either is yet known.

As big a problem as the selfishness of racist pensioners is, even I wouldn't go quite as far as conscripting them.

Then again, when they were kids this was entertainment.
