Made edits to these, I'm considering expanding this to include games that are similar to Chao Garden but not directly stated to have been inspired (like that horse girl gacha game everyone kept talking about lol)

I'm not too sure about it though, so let me know if I should!

But yeah, overall I enjoyed Flora & Fang and would recommend getting it if you like challenging arcade games! Thank you to both @bortbyting.bsky.social and @flynnsarcade.bsky.social for bringing us this cool title! (10/10)

I also noticed the audio stuttering at times, though I'm sure this could maybe be fixed in a patch. Didn't happen too often during my playthrough luckily, but it is seemingly a problem (9/10)

As far as sound effects, they all sound like classic arcade sounds, which while fitting for the game I felt could be a tad too loud in some instances, or just a bit unfitting for the specific action in the case of the jump sound (8/10)

The game visually looks really good as well, I generally liked its effects although in some cases it could make the pixel art look blurry. For music, I admittedly hadn't been paying too much attention to it but from what I do remember it's decent enough (7/10)

Sadly wasn't able to try co-op either, but it's here and I can imagine it being a lot of fun. As for other aspects of the game, there's a story as told in the opening cutscene but it seems pretty light. Was pleasantly surprised by its use of voice narration however (6/10)

Speaking of which, there's also bonus stages which you get sent to for collecting all the balloon letters. And while simple I thought they were neat, I especially liked the one that's seemingly inspired by the Chrome dinosaur game (5/10)

Will say however that some levels seemed REALLY tough to clear without losing at least some pumpkins, but so far I've been able to fully clear each of them, in some cases thanks to the bonus balloons you can collect (4/10)

Anyways despite that, I had fun with it! While I've yet to play the games this title is inspired by, I definitely liked the core gameplay of protecting pumpkins from various bugs. Everything seemed pretty well-designed and difficult as stated, including the boss I fought (3/10)

For full transparency, I've only beaten World 1 so far, may make a more "proper" review if/when I finish the game, but sadly can't guarantee it cause this game is honestly longer and more challenging than I expected 😅 (2/10)

As stated I was given a review code for this by Flynn's Arcade (huge thanks as always!) and thought I'd give my impressions (1/10)

Wasn't familiar with the game this is seemingly inspired by, but from what I've seen of Flora & Fang it looks super cool! Would definitely encourage you all to keep an eye on it

No problem, and that's cool to hear! Admittedly I just kinda based it off a pretty compressed image and just now realized there's a clearer one, hence why there may be some details wrong 🙃

Haven't had a chance to try out the demo either, been meaning to cause I really like how the game is looking!
