But what about all the waste they told us about? What about all the savings DOGE was going to find? What about the promises to cut council tax?
It's almost as if they were just making shit up to fool people, like they did with Brexit.

Lords Heseltine & Kinnock seem more alive to these self-evident truths than most members of the Commons. Similarly, I find thinkers with direct lived experience of far right dictatorship, Greeks of a certain age for example, crystal clear about whatโ€™s happening now.

The ECHR has protected British people from abuses of power by its own government

We must protect it, not leave it

We spent hours one evening searching for Felix, the next morning he emerged from our neighbourโ€™s garage. I was beside myself all night and so relieved to see him the following morning. He had sneaked in and the neighbour hadnโ€™t seen him but he could hear him the next morning.

England's hotel protesters say we should house the homeless rather than migrants. So where were these protesters when, in 2020, the pandemic protection ended for homeless people and they were chucked out of hotels and back on the streets?

Exactly.

We flounced out of the EU on the say-so of politicians who lied to us. And what a total shitshow thatโ€™s turned out to be. The polar opposite of what they promised. Now the call to flounce out of the ECHR. By the same people. Telling the same lies. Has the country been kicked in the head by a horse?

Fascist memes are changing Britain, and the government is totally out of its depth.

Yeah, Keir Starmer is an exasperated manager, Nigel Farage a golf club bore, Ed Davey an incompetent cuddly uncle but Kemi is every work colleague youโ€™ve ever had who thought themselves to be superior to everyone around them, on steroids.

Iโ€™ve got an idea Kemi and Keir - instead of trying to outfvck the fvckery of Reform or Trump, why donโ€™t you try sone unification policies, some nice words and an opportunity to bring back hope?

Or is that asking too much?

The closer than the Tories get to Reform, the more it makes sense for Labour to leave them to it and head back towards the centre. Stop bashing immigrants 24/7 and concentrate on the important stuff.

The US provides the most advanced case of what that can lead to. It is worth remembering that Farage could not even bring himself to criticise Trump's comments on paracetamol. I strongly urge everyone *not* to assume that this type of escalation cannot happen here - it already is in some areas.

London is, and always will be, a place for everyone.

A city where people of all backgrounds live side-by-side, and where our differences are not just tolerated, but celebrated.

Where Is the Opposition to Nigel Farage's Immoral Mass Deportation Plan? Keir Starmer's Government's refusal to explicitly condemn the Reform leader's plans to tear thousands of families and communities apart is only clearing his path to Downing Street, argues Adam Bienkov

When the most powerful man in the world goes about the place spreading very dangerous nonsense about paracetamol and vaccines, millions of people will sit up and listen.

It's consequence free for him but this is going to kill a lot of kids and make a lot more children very ill indeed.

Farage vows to scrap indefinite leave to remain, placing thousands at risk of deportation Reform UK plans to force non-citizens to apply for visas with high salary thresholds and no access to NHS services

Thousands of Londoners have indefinite leave to remain.

They have legal rights and are our friends, neighbours and colleagues, contributing hugely to our city.

Threatening to deport people living and working here legally is unacceptable.

This is not some misguided attempt at โ€˜balanceโ€™. Itโ€™s a deliberate policy of promoting Reform. Labour should have made it a priority to clear out the Tory and reform entryists at the BBC. They still could.

Where Reform is headed is very much in line with the new right, that in order to save western democracy it must be destroyed. Patriotism as nihilism. Culture wars to become real ones.

Very dangerous stuff.
