Hard to overstate Derk Sauer’s courage launching The Moscow Times in ‘92 & maintaining it through the ups and many downs that followed. I remember issue no. 1 & the sense of community it birthed for foreigners who had previously vaccumed up a free weekly called The Moscow Guardian. Remarkable man.

Missed this sad news a few weeks ago: Marshall Stewart, who played a key role birthing the modern Today programme on BBC Radio 4, then bringing Douglas Cameron and Bob Holness to LBC, passed away in April. A major figure in UK news radio.
