We were at the "Phages in Nancy" meeting last week and had a very fun time!

Just don't shit on the double helix, ok? (The discovery, not the book ...... you can shit on the book, that's up to you)
Dude was named head of CSHL at 40!!, which pretty much means that he was doing much more administrative than scientific work
YOU try making a science shattering discovery while half of your brain is occupied elsewhere, see how it goes
*whispers* also, he actually did some important work on mRNA and the human genome project was pretty important
11.11.2025 15:29 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0The man was flawed enough, bash him on his flaws!!
But to say "well, besides that DNA business what has he done?" Is, IMHO, a failure to recognize the impact of the biggest discovery in biology since ........... Darwin, perhaps?
I really dislike that I feel like I have to "stick up" or whatever for a reprehensible human being like Watson (maybe that's on me and I should just keep quiet) BUT, repeatedly seeing the man described as a failure is CRAAAAZY revisionism and a serious case of "what have you done for me lately"
11.11.2025 15:29 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 1TL,DR We had a good time visiting some of our Portuguese colleagues this week, where we talked #phage and ran into some old and new faces
Our visit had it all: good science, good food and even an unexpected seismic drill
You can read all about it on this thread π§΅
Is he holding a phage?
04.11.2025 18:04 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Well, that's one hell of a way to start a letter!!

Camera crews in the lab today ..... ππ»
29.09.2025 15:57 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I like that we posted a real photo of my boss in the office and not a fake one in the lab looking at some nonsensical microscope or something π€·π»
NORMALIZE SHOWING REAL SCIENCE!!!
Next time someone asks me if I'm enjoying my time at @pasteur.fr I'm just gonna show them this flyer that I got on my inbox today
They're announcing the presentation of a new flow cytometer like it's Bad Bunny dates or something
This place is run by nerds and I love it so much π€π€ππ
#meettheteam If you've been following us for a bit, you might recognize this member of our team, who was featured on our very first post
Nicolas Dufour is an associated researcher who splits his time between the BBH lab and his clinical work at an intensive care unit

26.08.2025 14:29 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0#meettheteam A lot of the work for a research lab is not ACTUALLY performed on the bench, that's why it helps to have a good administrative assistant!!
At the BBH we're lucky to have Eric Figueroa-Acosta helping us out with the (many) administrative tasks needed for the daily functioning of the lab

She's been working at @pasteur.fr for over 30 years and for the past 3 she's been at the BBH, helping us out with our in vivo models π and histopathology π¬ among other things
Well, Trotsky opens a whole can of worms with Frida and the like!
I think you might be right, going back in time is way more fun π€

Look who showed up at our lab today π
None other than @joshuasweitz.bsky.social and JΓ©rΓ©my Seurat
We had a mini reunion with some of the authors in our recent Nature comm paper (sadly missing Sophia, one of the lead authors)
Thanks for the visit, exciting things coming from our collaboration!!
Loving the game of telephone "tell him that they told me that he had told them that they wrote to say that ........"
22.07.2025 10:04 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0#meettheteam Today you get to meet one of our PhD candidates, Ngoc-Minh-Chau Nguyen
She's been with the lab for >2 years, working on developing in vitro models to study bacterial infections in the lung.
If you've got questions about cell culture or fluorescence microscopy, she's your person!!!
#meettheteam Today we're introducing Nandita Sharma, a Postdoc on the BBH lab and a very important part of our "gut" team
She works mainly on Citrobacter (hence the Drigalski agar), using gnotobiotic mouse models and also has experience in CRISPR-Cas systems on Salmonella
Today we're celebrating!
Summer is here and it came with a "Groot" grant from @pasteur.fr for Nicolas Dufour (pictured left and who may have hurt his finger during grant-writing by the looks of it) and Quentin Lamy-Besnier (on the right with the cool artsy shirt)
Congrats to both of you!!
