The staff is having an interesting debate on how to exhibit this as a 1960/70s “stop immigration” graffiti, unrelated to the factory, dramatically changes the history and nature of this object.

Earlier this week I helped clean a 1920s sign that St Albans Museum (where I volunteer sometimes) rescued from the old Ballito stockings factory. It was quite dirty, but no major restoration work was needed. BUT,

#historians #arthistorians of #witchcraft help! I’m hoping to argue that this print in Guazzo’s Compendiun Maleficarum is the ONLY image showing animals that are witches transformed (to enter the victims’ houses more easily) and NOT familiars as all other images. Anyone knows of others?
