Le général Guillaume Henri Dufour, l'un des 5 membres fondateurs du CICR et son premier président, est décédé il y a 150 ans. Son héritage est encore bien vivant.

We are very sad to announce the death of another ICRC colleague in Gaza. Mahmoud Barakeh, who worked supporting logistics at the Red Cross Field Hospital in Rafah, was killed on Sunday, 22nd June. Mahmoud leaves behind his wife, three sons, and two daughters. His killing is a profound personal loss and a painful moment for our teams. We extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends, and all those who had the privilege of working alongside him. This heartbreaking loss is yet another stark reminder of the immense challenges our colleagues and the people of Gaza, face each day.
📍 Gaza | We are devastated by the killing of our colleague Mahmoud Barakeh, who worked at the Red Cross Field Hospital. He was killed on his way home on Sunday, 22 June.
Our hearts are with his family and loved ones.
Five ICRC colleagues have been killed in Gaza since October 2023.

Despite clear legal safeguards granting protection to hospitals, hospitals are at times misused for military purposes and attacks regularly ensue. In many cases, core #IHL principles are either deliberately ignored or applied in a permissive manner.

In collaboration with the Yemen Red Crescent, we delivered essential food items to 2,000 internally displaced families. Years of armed conflict, other violence, and economic hardship have exhausted people's capacity to cope.
Yemen is still one of the worst humanitarian crises and is the fourth largest ICRC operation globally.
We remain committed to supporting the communities affected by armed conflict.
