I don't agree that there was no crime though. They shot a defenseless man lying on the ground who didn't attack them physically and who never drew his gun. We've seen from other incidents, and even from their own mouths, that they enjoy shooting people. That should be a crime.

The looks on their faces say a lot. Horrified. Sad. Concerned. Even the smiling lady seems to be taking in the ridiculousness of it all.

My point was more to reject the idea that everyone who voted for Trump did so out of hate, or that they voted for what's happening now in MN. A lot of independent/swing voters had actual concerns about the border under Biden, legit or no. But they didn't vote for this. MAGA? Sure, absolutely.

I don't think they wanted authoritarian terror necessarily (some did), but I do think a lot of people really disliked what they saw as the open borders of the first three years of the Biden administration and that it did influence a decent number of votes.

This is, objectively, fucking nuts.

It's much easier for Dems to blame everything on racism than to look in the mirror and evaluate their own failings. It's like a warm blanket. No self-analysis necessary. Have a glass of cold milk and oatmeal raisin cookies while you're at it. And I say that as a registered Dem.

I don't love this discourse, trying to assign blame or responsibility to one side or the other, because it implies that the people in charge dropped the ball and that this could have been prevented. And the way of preventing it, apparently, is not letting any more Afghans in. It's already happening.

Also, what is the evidence that republicans were ever going to cave on ACA subsidies? The only evidence we've seen so far is that republicans don't care about hurting people. People will lose their healthcare because too many people voted for republicans, not because Dems didn't fight hard enough.

This would give me comfort, except that we've seen this all before and half the country still thought it made sense to vote for a pathological moron. We have way bigger problems than can be expressed in a single election cycle. Voters have got to start paying attention.
