d.j.runnels I could never be an editor. I can see and correct mistakes, but I would also think of ways to make the story more refreshing. Then pretty soon I'm adding little woodland creatures and perhaps a small cottage at the base of a tree. Next thing you know, your dystopian sci-fi has twisted into OOPS! Now there's a dead body.

Dead Mona by D. J. Runnels Supernatural Mystery Satire Mona Hardesty ends up dead after the third wife of her ex-husband gets her fired. When she lands in the afterlife, she's greeted by an airhead with the IQ of a marshmallow--no offense to marshmallows--then interrogated in a concrete cell by a drill sergeant. Mona must pass this process before anyone will investigate her murder. Seriously?! What part of her ex being a Charles Manson clone do they fail to grasp? Fine. Mona relives her life from 1950-1986, against a backdrop of multiple U.S. political assassinations, the Vietnam War and hippies burning draft cards. So many problems in the world, yet she is denied the chance to marry the boy she loved because of different religions. After Mona's story spirals into the urban decay of a hippie enclave in Chicago, they finally put her on a waiting list a mile long. Oh, that will not fly with Mona. She sees now the afterlife is a bureaucratic trap of bribery and illusion in a dimension where time doesn't exist. So she demands to speak to a manager and will even do lunch with God if she has to. Somebody's gotta pay for her murder.
