Your work will provide a foundation for those that come after the current crew are dust. It’s like leaving an ember or a light burning in the hearth or darkness for others to find their way. Don’t give up.

The thing that I understand the least about this admin is what kind of future they envision for their own children. They will not be able to hide in their compounds from the impacts of this destruction on healthcare, on research funding, on climate, on education, the economy. They're so nihilistic.

A ticket to the Wildlife Center of Virginia's charity gala event costs $150 and a virtual ticket for the auction is $50. It benefits the WCV, its hospital for injured wild animals, and its extensive public outreach about living with wildlife.

Ditto. But this is actually, I believe, less expensive than the higher end of Not-Hobbiton--an event that does not clarify what % goes to the charity--and there are sad orphaned baby bears. (Really, WCV does amazing work, much of it on smaller, difficult to rehabilitate animals like songbirds.)

Thumbs up to @nbcwashington.com for absolutely dismantling the stats Trump and Vance have cited on local crime rates and clarifying laws for children who commit crimes. Please keep defending the DMV with facts!

I've been trying to get back into my previous watercolor and illustration work, and I really want this fancy set of paints from Assisi using madder, lapis, buchthorn berries, all the old pigments. Unfortunately they cost your firstborn child (or cat) so I'll have to wait a while.

So every time you read about what is happening in Texas, when you read about what they're going to now do in Indiana, when you read about this new fake census Trump wants or when you read about the federalization of the capital, understand that this is open plotting for a second armed insurrection.

People of the DC area, I'm afraid we all have to think realistically about how to handle this, including how to keep our families safe. They're destroying our jobs; they can't take DC's self-rule.

Understand that Trump voters will see every House seat Trump steals via gerrymandering as a legitimate MAGA gain, and every House seat Republicans *lose* through gerrymandering as "stolen."

The effect of this is that there's a good chance Trump orders Mike Johnson to not accept the midterm results.

Right, so you know what I would love?? I would love if Dems stopped trying to appease the Right while losing their own base, over and over and over. I have been a big fan of Pete, and I really want him to NOT DROP THE F'ING BALL MY GOSH. Do not appease these guys! Is that so tough to understand?

I'm confused. What are you talking about with Pete? All I've seen from him so far is a bunch of the kind of clarity and good communication that the rest of the last sdmin hasn't given us, but maybe I just don't know what you're referring to.

Happening now: protesters in Chicago are interrupting a hiring fair at the Congress Hotel, where U.S. Customs and Border protection is recruiting today.

Banner reads, "stop kidnapping our neighbors!"

It's quite the scene in here, and the DHS table has been blocked for several minutes already.

Weather Service is now hiring back hundreds of positions that got cut in the DOGE chaos | CNN The National Weather Service has received permission to hire 450 meteorologists, hydrologists and radar technicians just months after being hit hard by Department of Government Efficiency-related cuts...

After DOGE fired experts at the National Weather Service, the Admin is now scrambling to hire hundreds of staff to fill critical vacancies. So much for efficiency. Let’s be clear: while this is a relief, they undermined our emergency preparedness & have done lasting harm at NWS.
