The way I looked at these like "Huh, not a lot of older games.." and then the older games started throwing off their cloaks to reveal themselves like "Oh yeah, Pokemon Diamond. And yeah, Portal 2 and Mass Effect 3 I guess."

And then

"...oh yeah, I guess Overwatch did come out like a decade ago"

....as much as one can limit Amazon usage given that the internet is apparently built on Amazon infrastructure at this point. Bluh.

This is morbidly funny to me given that the increasing usage of ai in search results and things only increased my going to wikipedia when searching for more Base Knowledge type things.
(As well as choosing to go to wikipedia over, say imdb, because I'm also trying to limit Amazon usage)

Especially annoying is having zero desire for any of it and knowing that every time I see one of those features force itself onto the page I'm looking at, it's using up a resource that could've gone to better use. Like hydrating a human.

But I understand that's a tall order given that the subscription feed is (one of) the redheaded stepchild(ren) of youtube's entire operation.

06.10.2025 11:21 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

All the channels involved in the video (that probably works fine when it's just one or maybe two other channels) just said "and 3 more" for both videos. So.
They really gotta fix that up if that's a feature they're gonna be running with. Not a great first impression.

06.10.2025 11:21 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

what's going on (or assume I do, anyway) is because the /first/ one I saw luckily had a thumbnail that had a channel creator that I /am/ subbed to in it, so it clicked. And, again, I've seen it on instagram for a few months now.

Otherwise even the little arrow dropdown thing that /should/ tell me

06.10.2025 11:21 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Except that of the two times I've seen it now, both times my subscription feed has shown me a video from:
A channel I did not recognize and nothing about the video or title or anything that I would be able to understand why it was in my subscription feed.

Literally the /only/ reason I understand

06.10.2025 11:21 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

So it seems like youtube's testing out a new feature like instagram's where an account can push posts to their subscriber's feeds when they're involved in the video (which is a feature I imagine came from a different site that I'm not even on, as is instagram and youtube's way).

here I sit mostly installing stuff through Discover (graphical app store, basically) anyway, rather than going through the terminal. Ah well.
I do have some plans to set up some virtual machines for some of the more intensive distros to see if it's more satisfying or annoying to work with them.

It is kind of funny though because I specifically avoided an immutable distro because I got annoyed with some aspects of how desktop mode for the Steam Deck works (including how I had to do a workaround to install a slightly more functional version of firefox), and yet

So Debian with KDE it is.
I had previously used MX Linux with KDE as well, on a laptop with a battery that ballooned up. If I ever get that sorted out (it had other problems as well) I might use that as another pseudo desktop (and maybe by then the next version of MX Linux will be out)

20.09.2025 21:55 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Gnome felt laggy at times in a way that KDE did not, which /could/ have been down to the usb stick I was using, but since it's supposed to be heavier I figured it was probably better to just play it safe and call it a con.
XFCE just didn't vibe with how I use computers.

20.09.2025 21:55 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Then when I decided to go for Debian I wasn't sure which desktop environment I wanted so /that/ took some time to decide on. But then I stopped being a dingus and actually tested them out
KDE felt fine but I didn't want to just use it out of familiarity (it's what Steam Decks run)

20.09.2025 21:55 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

The main issue I ran into was that Debian just had a big update and most of the distros I was considering were based on Debian, but understandably haven't been updated yet. So I wasn't sure if I wanted to wait or just go for Debian itself.

I finally got Linux on my new MiniPC and it only took me almost 2 weeks

(to decide on which distro I wanted to run on it)

In a rare once every two years happenstance I started and finished a piece of art in a single day. My partner updated his XIV character's appearance so I had to make him a new profile picture. #IvyArt #FFXIV #OCArt

Like what do you MEAN Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages and Seasons released the same year as Golden Sun AND Super Smash Bros. Melee?

And like a dozen other games that also do not compute.
No wonder my sense of time's all fucked up.
