Phoenix still gets to have his "Am I gay?" moment, Jude still gets his awful "Im hiding a secret no one knows about" moment, and over all there is still a happy ending at the end of this tunnel, because the answer is yes, they will still love you. YAY!

This is why also Ive had to settle on making Phoenix cis as well. I think if Phoenix were to be genderqueer then Jude's experience of transitioning wouldnt phase Phoenix lol. By making Phoenix cis it allows that awful tension of "Am i safe with this person" and "Do they really love me for who I am?"

When they reunite, it raises the question of how far does someones love go? Could you still love this person even after they've grown? After they have transitioned ? How does that affect you, them- your dynamic? Does Phoenix still love Jude after everything is said and done?

After talking with a friend, I decided that his idea was epic as fuckkk and it would be even more compelling for Jude to present as woman and be dating Phoenix, the crash happens, Jude transitions and Phoenix continues to be a racer and left to think the Jude he knew had died instead.
